Wunderfan Launch for Week 1 of the CFB Season was a roaring success 🎉 From Mercedes Benz Stadium to Jordan Hare Stadium, and all the way to Rugby matches in South Africa fans were earning rewards simply by cheering for their favorite team. However, as most of us know, not everything with an initial product launch is all sunshine & rainbows. Users had some extremely raw + insightful feedback. The goods news is that we heard it all! Going into week 2, we've made the following updates to the app: - Drastically reduced friction with the onboarding experience. Now when users download the app, they'll simply need to create a password and can start earning ASAP. No more fancy wallet creation 📈 - For those fans that maybe are, let's say "reluctantly" attending the sporting event..not to worry. We've partnered with Lululemon & Athleta adding cash vouchers to our WunderShop 🤑 - For those UX sticklers, we're changing up some of the icons & motions to better match our "brand". Apologies to our sibling app Wunderpar for the icon theft 😜 - Finally, as Mark Dantonio once said, "It's not over, it'll never be over, and we're only getting started" - So yes, battery optimization is our highest priority each and every day 🔋 That's it for now. Sport England have launched their Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan, identifying 'Circular economy: supply chains, products and waste' as a priority theme. 'The Plan will promote and enable the recycling* (reuse) of sports clothing and equipment to benefit grassroots clubs and participants most in need', aswell as implement sustainable procurement policies and guidance in collaboration with their suppliers. Given that the volume of clothing and equipment waste involved is often an overlooked issue ( 🎾 54,000 tennis balls are used at Wimbledon each year, 🏏 1624 tonnes of cricket gear goes to waste every year) with most kit and equipment made from multi-components which do not biodegrade or cannot be commercially recycled it's great to see this as a key focus area. *there is a big difference between recycling and reuse, only 1% of textiles are recycled into new garments and recycling is not commercially viable for much of the mixed component equipment. Some really interesting research here from PARITY | A Group 1001 Company. Not so much for telling us things we didn’t know or suspect but for putting the weight of careful research behind it. A lot to digest in this, and very useful if you’re looking for regional data. Those of you toiling at the coal face of women’s sport will not be surprised by most of the data here - but then I don’t think Parity want to preach to the choir. So hopefully some of you out there, especially brands and agencies will look at this data carefully and make some smart decisions! Let's Talk About Half-Wheeling on Group Rides In cycling, half-wheeling is when one rider persistently edges slightly ahead of another, causing a slight but constant escalation in speed. It’s often seen as problematic for several reasons: It Signals Insecurity: Habitual half-wheeling might suggest a rider is insecure, using the tactic to subtly compete. It Disrupts Group Harmony: This behavior can turn a friendly group ride into a competitive ordeal, changing the culture from cooperative to combative. It Imposes Dominance: By constantly pushing the pace, the half-wheeler imposes an artificial dominance, which can frustrate and wear out fellow riders. This got me thinking—what's the business world equivalent of half-wheeling? Maybe it's constantly one-upping colleagues in meetings or always having to have the last word? Question for My Network: Have you observed similar behaviors in the workplace? How do we address and change this culture to foster more collaboration and less silent competition?
