🔸 Advent Week 2 Thoughts. I've asked God some hard questions over the years. He's always answered. 🔸 What’s behind the power of a question? We use powerful questions in executive coaching to maintain presence, actively listen, evoke awareness, and facilitate a clients growth. We ask questions of the heart, head, & hands. We ask questions that explore the "who" of the person vs explaining the "what" of the problem.   🔸 What’s the character of the heart in a question? How we ask a question of ourselves, others, & world around us to include tact, tone, tempo reveals the character of the heart.   🔸What does an individual’s question reveal about their belief, knowledge, worldview, & preparedness to answer a call to action? 🔸This week consider reading Matthew 2:1-12 & Luke 1:1-38 🔸What’s behind the Magi’s question, “Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews?”  🔸🔸 Their question is full of hope & pursuit of truth. Following the prophecy of the OT book of Daniel they arrive in Jerusalem to witness prophecy fulfilled. Strangers in a foreign land, they are driven by faith, truth, & hope. 🔸What’s behind Herod’s question, “Where was the Messiah to be born?”  🔸🔸His question reveals fear, lack of knowledge, loss of control, & growing deceit. Unaware of the prophecy, he seeks to eliminate the threat to his power. In a perceived position of power & authority he grips onto his loci of control. 🔸What’s behind Zechariah’s question, “How can I be sure of this?”  🔸🔸His question reveals arrogance, positional authority & yet lack of faith. In a safe & secure space, the Holy of Holies, in the midst of the supernatural, his lack of faith is revealed. 🔸What’s behind Mary’s question, “How will this be?”  🔸🔸Her question is open ended. Full of wonderment & awe, evoking awareness, active listening, present, fully open to God's plan revealed despite her lack of authority, position, & power in the world. 🔸What’s behind your question(s) for God as you wrap up 2024?   🔸What’s the character of your heart & clarity of mind asking the question?   🔸How does your question(s) reveal your faith, hope, knowledge & belief?  🔸How open are you to seeing that God is present with you, evoking your awareness, asking you powerful questions, & His desire to see you trust & grow into the potential He’s called you too? #faith #advent #question
