Regeneron, the 35-year-old drugmaker still led by its co-founders, is getting into the venture investing arena. The New York pharma will commit $100 million per year for five years, it said Monday morning. The drugmaker is the exclusive limited partner for the fund, which launched this month under the name Regeneron Ventures. In this week's article, EOS' Perspectives team looks into Actinium-225, an alpha-emitting isotope for targeted alpha therapies in cancer treatment. - While Ac-225 has been pegged as one of the most promising isotopes for TAT, its current supply shortage is a major impediment for companies conducting clinical trials using the isotope. - Although several isotope manufacturers are working towards increasing their production levels, it is expected that supply woes will not ease before 2025. - Given the current shortages, several leading pharmaceutical companies are investing in isotope manufacturers to ensure a smooth supply of Ac-225 for their ongoing clinical trials. - Recently, Eli Lilly invested in a nuclear isotope manufacturer, Ionetix, to guarantee itself an uninterrupted supply of Ac-225 for its ongoing clinical trial, PNT2001.
