If you do not follow Paul Fain and you are interested in the state of workforce and education, you should. His most recent podcast episode was an interesting discussion about the transitions in the economy and workforce related to AI. They discussed a transition from the pedigree economy to the relationship economy. The premise of this belief is that as AI advances, educational pedigrees will become less important and the knowledge and skills to solve challenges through relationships will become more important. Give it a listen and and I’m interested to hear your thoughts. As people dismiss the importance of liberal arts in higher education, does this offer a counter narrative? How does education (K-20+) play a role in developing the relationship skills/ networks to help people continue to connect to opportunities and empower themselves for economic mobility?

Some valuable insights shared from two of the best minds in ed-tech Lyman Missimer and Jomayra Herrera at Owl Ventures and at Reach Capital 1. Finding product market fit that results in at least $5M of ARR and profitability is an important factor in making an acquisition attractive enough for a buyer 2. Transactions rarely happen overnight. Intentionally networking with potential strategic partners and finding ways to collaborate can greatly enhance trust between management teams and increase the likelihood that a partnership could materialize into an acquisition that benefits both parties 3. AI is not a product category. It is a technology that can be leveraged to solve a problem or set of problems. Companies that are most likely to succeed will understand how to leverage this technology to solve a problem at scale. It's still early days in terms of what those business models will be and how open districts are to utilize the tech. But perhaps the greatest unknown is what will their capacity be to enact policies and guardrails to protect students and teachers from the unintended consequences of AI #edtech #AI
