Did your audit partner pass their most recent AICPA Peer Review? This is something worth asking when prospecting #SOC2 audit firms. Does a “pass” mean they’re perfect? No. Like most things in life, there are no guarantees. You still need to vet them yourselves to make sure they’re technically competent and a good fit for your organization. However, failing a peer review, or simply not participating, should be a major 🚩 The AICPA’s Peer Review program is intended to establish minimum standards regarding the quality of the firm’s services. FBR Faces Expanding Revenue Shortfall in November 2024 The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is grappling with an expanding revenue shortfall for November 2024, compounding challenges in meeting the national tax agency’s collection targets for the fiscal year. The FBR was tasked with collecting over Rs 1 trillion in November 2024. However, provisional figures indicate revenue collection reached approximately Rs 855 billion, falling short by Rs 148 billion. Officials expect this figure to rise marginally by Rs 4–5 billion upon final reconciliation and data compilation, but the gap will remain significant. Source : PK Revenue

On September 23, 2024 the AICPA's Accounting & Review Services Committee proposed SSARS Applicability of AR-C Section 70 to Financial Statements Prepared as Part of a Consulting Services Engagement, would amend the applicability of AR-C section 70, Preparation of Financial Statements, in AICPA Professional Standards to explicitly exclude financial statements prepared as part of a consulting services engagement performed in accordance with CS section 100, Consulting Services: Definitions and Standards, in AICPA Professional Standards from those engagements in which AR-C section 70 is required to be applied. The comment period ends December 20. The proposed SSARS would become effective for the preparation of financial statements for period ending on or after December 15, 2026.
