An interesting piece from Salesforce Research on a new LLM Benchmark for CRM. It's an interesting first step to shifting the conversation from general AI model capabilities to specific CRM capabilities. The benchmark was likely built out of necessity so the team at Salesforce can align on what models to use and for which tasks to use them. Recently, during a discussion around a new SaaS product, their sales team was pitching how “agents” were solving complex business problems. But as we dug deeper, it turned out these so-called “agents” were just a sequence of GPT-4 calls with varied prompts, a standard loop, rebranded as a “multi-agent workflow.” While “agent” definitions can vary by workflow, industry, or interpretation, calling a simple process an agentic system doesn’t necessarily make it sophisticated. This isn’t an isolated story. I’ve seen many teams and products marketing simple functionalities as complex, “agent-driven” solutions to capture more attention. In these cases, the word “agent” is thrown around less for its technical accuracy and more for its appeal. It’s a common, amusing tactic that underscores how complexity is sometimes added for effect rather than utility. Ironically, some of the most effective AI systems I’ve encountered are the simplest, designed to integrate seamlessly without unnecessary complexity. Real sophistication in AI isn’t about making things complex; it’s about making them work. Simplicity builds trust, speeds adoption, and drives impact. Yet 77% of business leaders cite nagging issues around trusted data and ethics that could grind their deployments to a halt, according to new Salesforce research. Dive into the findings:

Getting unstructured data into Salesforce quickly is a common goal. But AI token utilization and costs are an economic concern to many organizations. Using this simple prompt caching technique can reduce AI token costs by 50%. Put all your static rules, chain of thought (CoT) and response format grounding in the system prompt with no dynamic content. iDialogue will cache the initial prompt for use in subsequent requests, reducing the token utilization costs substantially. Here's an example of our NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) prompt template. It defines all the legal rules to be applied and a data extraction template in the initial system prompt. The other day I talked with a CTO in a Fortune 500 company.
