Additions and subtractions. They want to tweak things to fit their vision and space. It all starts with an architectural drawing and a list of corrections and must haves. The fixture is made for you with all the changes/customization you require. But notice how evenly the fixture has been lit up (a requirement). You design, you dream, then send us a drawing and we will set the ball rolling. Translating a drawing to a durable fixture with 1001 tweaks is what we do. How Do You Find The Right Interior Designer For Your Home Project? When I speak to groups there is always one person asking this question, representing many others.. My answer starts with another question. What are you looking to accomplish? Finding the right professional in any field to guarantee success can be confusing but especially in interior design with many specialties and levels of accomplishment. Most interior designers do their job well. Your success depends on your needs, vision, size of the project and a realistic timeline for what needs to be accomplished. As an example, some designers are not educationally trained or have a degree in interior design, but can be successful and often called "decorators". These designers are great for doing a simple floor plan, helping you select colors, wallpaper and can often finish a room for you with accessorizing. After working in the trade after many years they can reach great success. An accomplished professional designer typically has an interior design degree, has been working in the field 10-20+ years, all the while honing their design and business skills. Many of these design individuals or firms, create interior design drawings for a GC or builder to understand their future tasks, along with creating a design vision in renderings for the client. These designers have leaned to manage and complete each project successfully, on quality, on time, and on budget. They should have portfolio of projects like yours where you can see the results of the process. and allows you comfort to earn their trust. Research once you answer the basic question. Vatican Museum Collection - Bronze animal form table leg. This bronze leg was one of the only images I took at the Vatican museum collection today. The museum is a must see if you are into art and design, or of the Catholic faith! (But, you can barely move in there due to the crowds: 20-25K per day!) This leg is the genuine furniture article from the early imperial period of Rome...from around the time of Christ! While not the earliest form of furnishings, which are Mesopotamian and Egyptian, this certainly shows that those who could afford it outfitted their homes in style. I love seeing this stuff. This would still make a great side table, three legs, glass or stone top. Opportunity, Fear, and Furniture Design: I talk with a lot of potential clients who are interested in furniture designs. In reality, they are not really ultimately interested in furniture designs - the are really interested in cash flow, sales, bonuses, financial security and other things that are related to the furniture designs that I create. I get that. That is what I have done for 30+ years now. I have had the great fortune to have partnered with talented companies and together, we have created aesthetically beautiful and financially rewarding products. They trust in my direction and design leadership, and I trust them in their ability to execute, sell and distribute the intellectual property I provide. However, it seem that more and more people / companies that I talk to are very afraid of the future and the perceived lack of opportunity. This fear is bad. Puffy Coat Upholstered Chair - Wait....What?!? Having posted my earlier upholstered chair, I continued working on a conceptual design using a down-filled "puffy coat" aesthetic. I love the mixing of expected and unexpected design features. This chair is an example of using a different fabric to cover a typical casual contemporary arm chair. This chair would make a great statement in your office lobby. What do you think?? For lower ceilings, select recessed lighting with a wider spread to evenly distribute light across the room. A common error is installing wide-spread recessed lighting in high ceilings, which can make the room feel bright but makes it difficult to read. But good wayfinding isn’t just about signage; it’s about creating a holistic experience that guides people naturally and efficiently to where they need to be. In addition to thinking about wayfinding early in the process, I also encourage business leaders to… ➡️ Reduce visual clutter Use clear visual hierarchies and minimize unnecessary elements. Focus on creating intuitive paths that guide people naturally. ➡️ Balance signage with natural design Use signage as a reinforcement tool rather than the primary navigation method. Combine it with natural architectural cues to guide people.
