Flywire had the pleasure of sponsoring the Oracle Health Summit in Nashville last week, there were 3 themes I kept hearing as I listened to remarks from Oracle executives on new products and roadmaps. These extended across everything, from plans for the new EHR to Oracle Health software products, and included: The importance of high levels of security. Oracle Health EVP and GM Seema Verma called out Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s (OCI) “military-grade” security as a key differentiator for all products built on or connected to the cloud. A focus on openness. Oracle Health’s software will remain “EHR agnostic” even with the debut of Oracle’s own product, and work with data from any EHR system. AI as an enabler, not a replacement. Oracle compared its use of AI in its new EHR as akin to each provider having “your own resident.” AI-enabled software will give providers, for instance, patient summaries, including what has changed since their last visit. How much airtime those areas got at the event was very validating for the work we are doing at Flywire. These themes, and in particular, the importance of best in class payment security practices, have all long been a focus (case in point: our CTO was one of the original architects of PCI). Healthcare systems are eager to embrace things that help them solve the problems in front of them today – and to do that, they will need to thoughtfully deploy technology that works today and can scale to solve problems down the road. We started ChartPath a little over 10 years ago. There were already legacy systems in the sub-acute space and more than 400 EHRs across the total market. We did not set out to build a better EHR, we built a better EHR company. This philosophy drives everything we do with a focus on customer experience from sales to implementation, support, and even offboarding. Empathy is our core value. Over those 10 years, together with our clients, we’ve faced way too many changes and challenges. The biggest change that keeps coming back every year even stronger than the year before is the increased documentation requirements and CEHRT requirements that all of us must execute perfectly to simply stay in the game. We try to be smart about this. We treat each new requirement as an opportunity. Our product team and development team are the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with and their only focus is to “make everything ChartPathy.” We keep it light weight, we keep it elegant, and we deliver value. Our goal is for our providers to spend more time with their patients or their families, and far far less time with us. But no matter how elegantly we implement CMS’s new “requested features,” it still requires more from our users. More data, more process, more time spent in the EHR. We are not accomplishing our goals and we cannot always deliver on our promise. We are a growing chasm between our users’ work life and family life. As a CEO and product guy, that is simply devastating. Today, we get to change this forever. There are so many great companies out there hacking charting and hacking the EHR experience. This market is moving so fast and innovation is continually pushing us to greater heights.  We had the opportunity to build on this ourselves. To develop tools similar to these amazing companies and release them to our clients. We chose not to do that. Instead, today we are launching the ChartPath Automation Marketplace. Here, our clients can select from any number of innovative tools to enhance their daily experience with our EHR. These tools are vetted by our team, integrated with ChartPath, and built by teams we respect. I want you to stop using ChartPath and start using ChartPath automations. I’ve always been the CEO who wants you to use our product less, and today we are delivering on that promise. I’m grateful to our launch partners. Unpacking the CVS MA success #medicare #cvs Enrollment, Experience, Quality, Leverage, Simplification in 5 words. CVS Aetna has achieved significant success with Medicare Advantage through several key strategies: 1) Strong Enrollment Growth -- Enrollment Aetna has experienced industry-leading growth in Medicare Advantage enrollment: - They saw 15% growth during the annual enrollment period, reaching around 4 million total members. - Aetna attracted about one-third of the 1.7 million new Medicare Advantage beneficiaries in 2024. - They added 544,000 new members in 2024, bringing their total to 3.9 million beneficiaries. 2) Focus on Member Experience and Benefits -- Experience Aetna has prioritized offering compelling benefits and improving the member experience: - Every county where they offer a plan has options including $0 primary care with no monthly premium, $0 cost sharing for tier one drugs, and dental, vision and hearing benefits. - They improved by nearly one star in the Member Experience survey domain. - Aetna achieved 5 stars in Care Coordination and delivered 5-star performance for low member complaints and low disenrollment rates. 3) Quality Ratings -- Quality Aetna has maintained strong quality ratings from CMS: - 87% of Aetna Medicare Advantage members are in plans rated 4 stars or higher for 2024. - Their National PPO contract improved to an overall 4-star rating. - They achieved 5 stars in key measures like Breast Cancer Screening, Controlling Blood Pressure, Diabetes Eye Exam and Annual Flu Vaccine. 4) Leveraging CVS Health Assets -- Leverage Being part of CVS Health has allowed Aetna to offer unique capabilities: - They can provide access to MinuteClinics, CVS Pharmacy locations, Signify Health home visits, and Oak Street Health primary care clinics specializing in senior care. 5) Strategic Market Approach -- Simplification Aetna has taken a targeted approach to expansion: - They've focused on plan simplification and enhancing their value proposition for members. - The company has made strategic efforts to establish a strong presence in the Medicare Advantage sector. While Aetna has seen strong growth, it's worth noting that this rapid expansion has also led to some challenges, including rising medical costs that have impacted CVS Health's overall financial performance. However, the company is taking steps to address these issues and maintain its competitive position in the Medicare Advantage market.
