Despite receiving approval, the account was disapproved within two days. Recognizing the significance of Google Merchant Center policy compliance, I conducted a thorough review to identify and resolve potential issues to prevent further suspension. Challenges and Objectives: The primary challenge was to address the Google Merchant Center misrepresentation status by aligning every aspect of the account with the latest Google Merchant Center policies. My objective was to achieve complete policy compliance to reactivate the account and maintain its standing. Approach and Methodology: Review of Product Descriptions, Feeds, and Landing Pages: Initial steps included reviewing product descriptions, product feeds, and eliminating landing page duplication. These factors are crucial to ensuring compliance with Google’s Merchant Center misrepresentation policy. Shipping and Return Policy Alignment: A key finding was the recent update in Google Merchant Center’s Return Label Policy. Previously, Google Merchant Center Classic allowed merchants to specify return shipping cost coverage in case of customer order errors. The updated version now requires explicit details in the Return Label field. The previous setup led to a return policy mismatch, causing Google Merchant Center suspension for non-compliance. Correcting Policy Details: I carefully adjusted the Return Label settings to align with the Google Merchant Center return policy requirements. By selecting the correct options, I ensured the refund and return policies matched Google’s standards, preventing future policy violations. Request for Account Review: Once compliant with the new Return Label requirements, I requested a Google Merchant Center review. This compliance ensured smooth approval, reactivating the account successfully. Results: Through these adjustments, my Google Merchant Center account was reactivated, demonstrating the importance of policy compliance in avoiding account suspension. This experience reinforced my commitment to compliance-focused management of e-commerce platforms and strengthened my understanding of the Google Merchant Center policy updates. Conclusion: This case study underscores the importance of continuous monitoring of Google Merchant Center settings to meet policy compliance standards. By identifying specific Return Label requirements and addressing policy mismatches, I was able to reactivate the account successfully, showcasing my expertise in resolving Google Merchant Center misrepresentation issues and implementing effective compliance strategies.

Unpopular point of view: Buying an annual plan for software may not save money. New products and dev are moving FAST. A monthly subscription gives you the flexibility to try new products, pivot, and be agile for the benefit of your clients and customers. If you are locked into annual plans that saved you 2 months, you may be reluctant to label them a sunk cost and move to a better problem solver or more efficient tool. I am all for supporting software development and loyalty. So if it truly is a table-stakes software for you, save some capital. But if there are options to pivot and new tools available with secure AI, what could your tech stack look like in six months? It could be very different. #ThankGodItsMonday At the recent LinkUnite Meetup at Affiliate Summit East, Ninfa Cabello mentioned that when they first started attending conferences for Madrivo, hiring booth babes to attract advertisers and affiliates was a common practice—that struck a chord with me. Back in 2010-11, we established a few ground rules, and my female leadership faced significant criticism in the Indian affiliate industry for it. I still remember all the bad reputation I received at the time. These rules still apply today, and I hope the criticism has lessened since then 🤞 - We don’t hire booth babes. - We don’t serve alcohol on office premises. - We don’t sponsor alcohol during conference hours or on conference premises. - We don’t sponsor our logo on steps or conference floors. - We don’t wait at agency offices for hours without appointments just to be seen or heard. - We don’t engage in kickbacks to media planners. One of the most important financing options for small ecommerce brands are SBA loans. Here are some of the unique dynamics at play in this market right now and what it might say about the economy 1. Change in Premium Distribution: Between 2021 and 2023, there is a noticeable shift in the proportion of loans traded across different premium brackets. The percentage of loans trading at the highest premium bracket ("Higher than 118.00") has decreased significantly, from 11.3% in 2021 to just 5.0% in 2023. This reduction might indicate a change in the risk appetite of investors, a response to changing economic conditions, or alterations in the perceived credit quality of the issuers. 2. Still a High Demand for Loans: The consistent or increasing volume of loans sold indicates strong demand for capital. Not surprisingly businesses still need money. That hasn't changed. 3. The rates keep going up. The way that this money continues to be available even when investors are becoming more conservative is that borrowers bare more of a burden. Lenders use interest rates as a mechanism to compensate for the risk they perceive in lending. Higher interest rates are typically charged on loans that are deemed riskier. This could be due to factors such as the borrower's creditworthiness, the nature of the business, or economic conditions. 4. This Is A Potentially Risky Dynamic Lending rates remaining high while the terms of those loans become less attractive to borrowers could signal a bit of desperation in the market (or confidence in capacity to pay?). But i get a little heart burn thinking about the implications in the future as all of these loans require a personal guarantee from the borrowers. There are so few sources of capital for businesses in our space right now that many will find themselves with few options. Time will tell on how this dynamic plays out but it's worth keeping an eye on.

Just received word that DealerOn has completed their acquisition of Sincro, a DealerOn company. The biggest question in any acquisition is Why. It's generally 1 of 2 things More rooftops to insert current systems and expand market share, or new technologies to incorporate into the current book of business and grow revenue. As an active DealerOn affiliate, I'm curious to see what happens over the next 6 months. Could be good. Could be bad. Does anyone have experience with Sincro sites or services? We led with a statement that everyone in the target audience can agree with. → Makes them naturally want to read on → Open Loop → Highlight product quality While this email has a value-led approach, we still add a CTA above the fold for eager shoppers. ➤ Create An Angle An interesting angle that empowers dogs, setting context for the product spotlight section. → Compares dog DNA to wolf DNA → Creates intrigue in terms of ‘so, what does that mean?’ → Sets context for wild pacific stream smoked salmon ‘Wild Stream Smoked Salmon’ is contextualized more since modern science claims dogs share the same DNA as wolves. ➤ Product Spotlights With Reviews A clear product showcase with benefit-driven copy and review highlights. → Builds confidence through social approval → Makes product tangible → Builds on the context from previous section The value here is using the contextual story of dogs having wolf DNA, and showcasing products in light of this new perception. ➤ Conditional Product Spotlight Next, we highlight a product alternative. → Gives an alternative option → Based on customer research → Show clear customer understanding The main point here is to use your zero party data to decode what your audience considers highly relevant. ➤ Offer-Stack Reminder We put the offer at the end here. Criminal, right? Not when you’re taking a value-based approach. → Builds trust through reading first → Keeps the email relevant to profile → The goal is to offer value first Being a brand that gives value first is the ultimate differentiator. ------ I’m a big fan of value-led marketing. In a world where we see 10,000 ads in a day, leading with value in your marketing will help you stand out. It trains your audience to actually read your emails and receive some form of dopamine from new information. Providing value before an offer will add more longevity in your customer base. There’s definitely a time and place for leading with offers, but I do think the landscape is changing. Thoughts?

This week, I'm in Cleveland at #MAICON 2024 (Marketing AI Conference). Here, I'm talking to agencies about AI's effect on client engagements. One learning: Agencies will succeed by blending human insight with AI capabilities – not replacing one with the other. I spoke to an agency developing AI marketers to work alongside their human marketers on client teams. I was surprised to learn that clients have 24/7 access to the AI marketers for various tasks. How it would work: Clients are served by an agency team that includes one AI teammate. The AI teammate would be available to the client in Slack around the clock. It would complete tasks the human marketers would prefer to delegate (like time-consuming data analysis). Human marketers could elevate their roles on the agency team, focusing on high-level strategy, coordination, and leading the engagement. This approach exploits AI's abilities (e.g. search, predict, and generate) and exposes that intelligence directly to clients by training the AI teammate on relevant campaign data. Here's a breakdown of the tasks human/AI agency teams would perform: * Human marketers - strategy, decision-making, creative work, client communication * AI marketers - data-backed analysis, ML prediction, tedious tasks, ideation for brainstorming I could imagine an AI teammate that offers specific services (all based on historical data), like forecasting campaign performance and optimizing creative. 24/7 AI support sounds like something clients would love. But I wouldn't advise agencies to move in this direction without addressing some obvious issues. My concerns: Data privacy - Agencies would have to ensure that client data is kept confidential when ingested by AI. Human review - The outputs agencies deliver to clients require QA. I couldn't imagine trusting AI 100% to deliver ANYTHING to a client without human review. Usefulness - It will be a long time before client-facing AI teammates add real value to client engagements. Currently, hallucinations, data collection challenges, and privacy are huge issues. Bottom line: Agencies must ensure that human expertise is still central to every client engagement.
