Now market research platform Vurvey have added 4 Chicago icons to their roster of consumer, assistant and brand AI-agents. It works as a fun demonstration of how their AI-agents can be trained on anything, they've launched Ai-agents for Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, Hot Dogs, the Bean or even Comiskey Park. Just wrapped up an intense and rewarding RFP process to find new PR agency partners for some of our standout brands. While I’m not usually a fan of the traditional RFP, this time it felt right given the circumstances—and the results didn’t disappoint. We met with phenomenal agencies, both virtually and in person, each bringing their A-game and making the decision incredibly tough. In the end, it was the smallest details that set the winners apart. For those navigating similar waters—whether on the client or agency side—here are five insights I took from the process. 1. Vibe Check – This is paramount. If we’ll be working together frequently, a good culture fit is crucial. The account lead should absolutely be part of all presentations and calls – after all, we’re looking for a partner, not just an agency. 2. Budget Adherence – Stick to the budget. We set it with intention, and while we’d all love more flexibility, it’s essential to stay within scope. Offering “good, better, best” options is fine, but at least one should align with the stated budget. 3. Ask Questions – Even with a detailed proposal, there’s always more to understand. We provided an optional Q&A session and welcomed additional questions, even via email. Don’t hesitate to dive deeper – it shows commitment. 4. Creativity & Strategy – While every agency impressed with creative ideas, what stood out were those who shared their strategic framework. The “how” behind the idea is just as important as the idea itself, showcasing depth in thought and approach. 5. Meaningful Measurement – PR success metrics are always evolving. Go beyond impressions. We want to see how your agency defines and tracks success in a way that aligns with our brand’s goals.

I thought it was interesting as we see this unbundling trend in #Martech as a way to give customer choice, traditional bundling of products and services is alive and well giving customer value! Kroger and Walmart are starting to bundle streaming services to their membership program which acts as a win win. ✅ It makes it harder for customers to cancel their retail membership. While things like streaming services isn't the main reason for the initial signup, it can be a reason why a customer chooses not to cancel. ✅ Streaming providers often give an ad-version of the service for the bundle, not the ad-free version that's the full paid version. This bumps up the overall active subscriber # while also increasing more eyeballs on the ads being served.

Who will the merger between Omnicom and IPG be good for? Not for employees - Expect to see layoffs and for those that remain, a huge amount of busywork adapting to new corporate policies and procedures. Not for the work itself - Consolidating creative agencies and media buying will further water down creativity and disincentivize innovation. Not for clients - See above. It's a survival move with shareholder value being the primary consideration. Could these holding companies have saved themselves by other means? I've worked at big brands and small startups, big holding companies and small agencies -- and I can tell you that the best work, the most creativity and the most innovative solutions are coming from the smaller outfits. I’m excited about what the future of retail media means for our media tech clients but also for marketing leaders in general. BCG does a great job outlining why CMOs will want to increase retail media spend—and how RMNs need to step up their game to help them justify greater investment. Great and provocative read on Liquid Deaths’s success story. So many insights and examples which are relevant for FMCG challenger brands as well. Mark Ritson claims that “… if you step back and look at the original ‘four Ps’, it is almost impossible not to acknowledge that while the promotional P has its place, the product P is invariably the most important tactical consideration. Shitty marketing can surely kill a great product, but without a successful, product even the best marketing does little other than speed its own demise.” And I fully agree (see my earlier post for details) - so if you’re not yet following Mark, do it asap. Much of this is born out of necessity (particularly the attribution space) with the unprecedented complexity brought about by so many marketing/consumer touchpoints and the desire to understand incremental return......the use cases are limitless. There is no platform - whether walled garden or purpose-built stand-alone solution - that solves for this. It requires "Triangulation" - or some form of multi-disciplinary approach.
