🔎 Testing Arium on Apple's Safari delivered a high-quality stream in HD with 60fps. 👀 Our focus is on two primary streaming protocols: SRT and WebRTC. Haivision' SRT and W3C's WebRTC are both used for streaming media, but they are designed for different use cases and have distinct features. SRT is designed for low-latency (starting from 20 ms), high-quality video streaming over unreliable networks. It primarily uses UDP for transport, with mechanisms like ARQ (Automatic Repeat reQuest) and FEC (Forward Error Correction) to handle packet loss and ensure reliable delivery, which is a great advantage. WebRTC offers ultra-low latency suitable for real-time interactions. Palworld and Black Myth: Wukong are interesting case studies. They've been deemed "indie" in this VGInsights report but both had multi-million dollar budgets, so we're obviously casting a wide net. However, it does present a bar of achievability as to what's possible for indie games. They simultaneously are offering AAA studios a glimpse of what a pragmatic, lean team can achieve and surely brings about some questions as to what's happening that's generating true value in their multi-hundred-million dollar projects. It's great to see the indie space growing in terms of total revenue and market share though. I'm expecting to see these numbers grow in 2025 and hope there can be even more distribution down through the "double i", small and micro indies with it. Phase 4: Looking Outside Amir Satvat's Games Community As time has passed, our community's needs have evolved, and the data I now have paints a clear picture of where we should focus our efforts. The reality is stark: even in the most optimistic scenario, 4 out of 5 members of our community over the next 12 months will not secure a role in games and will need to explore opportunities elsewhere. For some of you, this truth has been internalized - you're applying broadly, balancing persistence with realism. For others, however, there's still a mindset shift required. Many conversations I have with applicants, even now after 33,000 layoffs, begin with aspirations narrowly focused on top-tier companies like Blizzard, Wizards of the Coast, or Nintendo. While those dreams are valid, they are also unrealistic and limiting in 95%+ of situations. Two critical points I’ll challenge our community on over the next three months: 1) Expand your horizons in games. The industry is vast, with 1,000 to 1,200 companies hiring at any given time. Focusing solely on the "top 50" is not enough. If you’re committed to finding a role in games, cast a wider net. These dream companies are exceptional, but the breadth of opportunity extends far beyond them. Many say the right things around this, but when I dig deeper are still stuck on the top 50. 2) Seriously and aggressively pursue opportunities outside games. This is not a resignation speech from someone who "made it." It’s coming from someone who didn’t land a role in games until age 38, after 17 years of pragmatic decision-making to support my family. That included taking any role that paid the bills while nurturing my passion on the side. Most of you should do the same. Working outside games doesn’t mean giving up. It means keeping a roof over your head while continuing your search, sharpening your skills, and maintaining your dream. If you are doing both 1 and 2 already and seriously, that is great and we will just try to help you be more successful. But, I assure you, MANY are not doing 1 and 2 - I have validated this "on the ground." What Phase 4 Means for Our Community In this phase, we’ll focus on equipping you with resources to: 1) Identify opportunities outside games that align with your skill sets. 2) Strengthen and sharpen your skills to remain competitive in games when opportunities arise. 3) Build resilience and adaptability, ensuring you’re prepared for roles both in and outside the industry. Even if the market "recovers," the data suggests that this reality - 75% or more of job seekers needing to look outside games over any 12-month period - will persist. It’s time for even greater honesty as to these facts and actionable support, and that’s what this next phase of our community’s journey is about. Together, we’ll face this challenge and prepare for success together, wherever it may be, just as we always have. I am completing our Games Jobs Workbook update, then Phase 4 begins.

Cloud gaming is a fascinating place, working with Antstream Arcade for the past year+ has certainly shown me that a) streaming games is absolutely the future and b) Antstream genuinely is fast becoming and will be one of the big players in this space. Just last week we were demonstrating what is coming to Antstream in front of a group of investors which initiated conversation of belief and excitement, not just where cloud gaming, but also Antstream will be going in the very near future. And if just to prove a point, one of our more recent predictions/hopes has just been announced with a AAA game being immediately available on a cloud gaming service/subscription - this is huge. Literally millions more devices suddenly have potential access to Call of Duty on launch. Simply pair a bluetooth controller to your 2021+ Samsung Smart TV or Android phone/tablet or Windows laptop and you can quite literally play instantly (after you subscribe ofcourse - plenty of 1 month trials out there). I urge anyone who hasn't tried this to give it a go, and if cloud gaming is of interest - please reach out - there is a huge amount to discuss!

Stoked to reach the milestone of 50+ player reviews on Hive Jump 2: Survivors, just a day after 1.0 launch. https://lnkd.in/g2yMxnDa That "Very Positive" review label matters a lot to Steam when deciding how "valid" our game is (not to mention impacting customer perceptions). It's a hard label to achieve. It has to come from paying players. It excludes any players who received a promotional key (hence the two numbers in the GIF). It also filters by your languages preferences and region, to some extent, too. So, yes, stoked to say the least that our team at Graphite Lab has met this mark with our first sequel. As a professional, until recently I've mostly focused on mobile gaming. As a player, I'm all-in on consoles and PC. I have a massive passion for the big screen, but I also know mobile gaming like the back of my hand. So as a professional, as a fanboy, as a gamer, I can tell you - the rumors about mobile gaming reaching a glass ceiling are nonsense. 2025 is going to be massive for mobile gaming. thousands of new, groundbreaking titles. My review of 2024-1 in mobile games Some trends were confirmed, such as the casualization of cores (e.g. "Squad Busters") and the race for hybridcasual expanding (e.g. "Match Factory"). In terms of mechanics, a puzzle of nuts and screws. Mixing mechanics such as stacking with sorting ("Hexa Sort"), logic puzzles with fashion ("Left or right"). Mini-games are still going strong (Jindoblu). Humor (”Help me: tricky story”). Trends from roblox and steam ("Supermkaret simulator). I was impressed with Supercent's performance. Many iterations with metagames. In addition to regional niches and indies. What would you add or change? Good Sunday, and thoughts!

Transmedia Evolution! "Secret Level," coming December 10th from Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios, is the newest anthology series from the creators of "Love, Death + Robots." ⬇ If you watched LD+R on Netflix - you loved it. I can't imagine any other reaction, frankly ("When The Yogurt Took Over" [S1E6] is Ai-allegory gold - highly, highly recommended. #Ohio). Season One of Secret Level will have 15 episodes, all based on and celebrating video games and gaming culture...including stories inspired by D&D, Honor of Kings, PAC-MAN (...?...lulz...ok - no wait, yes. YES.), New World, Sifu, Outer Worlds, Unreal Tournament, and Warhammer 40K. The VO talent list includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Keanu Reeves, and Kevin Hart. Clearly Arnold is the light blue ghost...a self-homage to Mr. Freeze. I could be wrong about that. Watch the trailer...good stuff. Watch Love, Death + Robots on Netflix...get your hopes up for Secret Level. Have some yogurt.

I've found 157 titles. 💪🔎 I highlight 4️⃣ titles of them. ✅ “Eternal Hero” by Supersonic from Unity A big Israeli publisher 🇮🇱 has released a stunning, high-quality action RPG. ✨ “Eternal Hero” has two standout elements: game art and the deep gameplay. Its highly polished game art, with delightful details such as the excellent jump animation and the battles' SFX. ⚔️ The game’s depth is also a highlight, with a character with dozens of features. Despite this depth, “Eternal” retains the easy gameplay of Hypercasual, with mechanics similar to Idle Arcade, combats that don't kill the player quickly, short dialogs, and an arrow tutorial that remains throughout the game. 👍 There are still some changes to be made, but there's no doubt that “Eternal Hero” is a promising Hybridcasual. 📈 Since August the game has amassed almost US$150k in IAP revenue with 220k downloads. Developed by Rivvy Games, "Eternal Hero" was transferred to Supersonic's account on September 16th. 🗓️ ✅ “Unscrew Pin Jam: Nuts & Bolts” by Supersonic from Unity This thought-provoking puzzle mixes “Screw Jam” by Rollic 🔩 with “Tap Away” by Popcore. ↗️ Developed by EOgames, "Unscrew Pin Jam" was transferred to Supersonic's account on August 29th. 🗓️ 👆 In my opinion, the Hypercasual giant is accelerating in the Hybridcasual race with these two games. 👆 ✅ “HexaCoin Harmony - Merge Tiles” by Voodoo “HexaCoin” is another attempt by the big French publisher 🇫🇷 to launch its version of “Hexa Sort”. With few changes in mechanics, the game's key differential is the AMSR coin sound. 🪙 Developed by Cympl Studios, "HexaCoin Harmony" was transferred to Voodoo's account on August 30th. 🗓️ ✅ “Blossom master: Tile matching” by Lihuhu Games The big Singapore publisher 🇸🇬 (and a Cost Center partner 🥰) released another game in its specialty: Match Tile. “Blossom Master” is a typical Matching tile with a flower theme. 🌺 In addition to its usual visual appeal, the flower theme provides powerful collection features. 💡 ERROR LOG #27: If your core gameplay loop isn’t compelling, your game might not be either. What I mean by that is the core gameplay loop is the heartbeat of your game. It’s the cycle of actions players will perform repeatedly, and if it’s not engaging, the entire player experience can be doubtful. The loop doesn’t just entertain, it defines the game, driving the player’s emotional and strategic investment. For example, think of a classic side-scroller. The loop might involve running, jumping, and shooting while collecting treasures and defeating enemies (YES! You got it! Metal Slug :D). Simple, but highly engaging. Compare that to a more complex RPG loop, blending exploration, combat, and dialogue. These loops provide different experiences, but they all share one thing: they’re finely tuned to keep players coming back but first and foremost they have to enjoy it! 💡As some of you know I’m not a designer by profession, I simply love all the aspects of game development. Here’s where I went wrong early in my design journey as I was mostly driven by visuals and appeal: I’d focus so much on flashy features and world-building that I’d lose sight of how those elements tied into the core loop. It’s easy to overcomplicate or dilute the loop with feature creep. But here’s the hard truth: if the loop isn’t tight, even the best visuals or narrative can’t save your game. 📘A-HA Moment: Start simple, then refine. Think of the gameplay loop as the game’s skeleton. It needs to be strong before you add the muscles (mechanics) and skin (aesthetics). For me, studying great games and their loops - like the seamless exploration and combat of The Legend of Zelda or the addictive power fantasy of Kratos in God of War was a game-changer. If you’re crafting a core gameplay loop, ask yourself: ✅ What will the player do 80% of the time? ✅ How does it feel? Is it satisfying, challenging, and fun? ✅ Does every element of the game enhance the loop or distract from it? What’s your favourite example of a perfectly executed gameplay loop?
