Exciting news for #funding #resilient #infrastructure! The Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (#PROTECT) Program Discretionary Grant application is open for Fiscal Years 2024-2026! The estimated total program funding is $876 million, with up to $576 million available for FY24-25! There are four types of PROTECT grants: 1) Planning, 2) Resilience Improvement, 3) Community Resilience and Evacuation Routes, and 4) At-Risk Coastal Infrastructure. If your state agency or MPO doesn’t yet have a Resilience Improvement Plan (RIP), the planning grant through the PROTECT program has a new #priority consideration on “Development of a Resilience Improvement Plan” and the federal share is 100%! The benefits of having a RIP that meets the requirements of 23 U.S.C § 176(e)(2) include (but aren't limited to!): 💰 Increased federal share for projects prioritized in the RIP to 87% (up to 90% if the RIP is integrated into long-range statewide transportation and/or metropolitan transportation plans); ⚖️ No benefit-cost analyses required to apply for resilience improvement grants and at-risk coastal infrastructure grants; 🌊 A systemic approach to transportation system #resilience and critical needs, including a risk-based assessment of vulnerabilities of #transportation assets and systems to current and future weather events and #naturaldisasters. Upcoming webinars to learn more are posted for November 12 (Tribal Applicants), November 18 (Benefit-Cost Analysis), and November 19. Applications are due February 24, 2025 for FY24/25. Happy to share our latest Center study on government #sustainability. Here are some key points: ·       The US is on the cusp of historical investment toward sustainability ·       Government agencies are establishing climate leadership roles (CxOs) ·       We conducted a survey of 435 public sector CxOs from federal, state, and local government agencies. ·       CxOs—and their agencies by extension—are pursuing multiple and diverse sustainability objectives simultaneously ·       Most CxOs say their agencies are on track to decarbonize at least a few operational elements. ·       Agencies are enhancing their institutional capacity to achieve ambitious climate targets · Climate execution capacity and style vary significantly by level of government ·       More than half of CxOs at every level of government say achieving sustainability goals will enhance mission resiliency. ·       Barriers to achieving sustainability goals include administrative and cultural rigidity, unclear governance frameworks, and lack of institutional capacity  Check out the full study below and let me know your thoughts.
