Childcare is a hot topic right now in the election, but foster parents often face unique childcare challenges that many of you aren't even aware of. I know too many foster parents that are unemployed or underemployed because of childcare challenges like these... First off, foster parents can't just hire any babysitter. They need licensed respite providers who have gone through rigorous background checks and meet specific qualifications. Many foster families struggle to find daycare centers that accept state payments or vouchers. Those that do? They fill up fast. Providers equipped for special needs kids are even rarer. Reimbursement rates often don’t cover full childcare costs, leaving foster parents to make up the difference. Changes in subsidy programs can also bring unexpected expenses, and sometimes by the time a child's childcare costs are approved by the program they're already being moved to a different placement. Navigating the application processes for childcare assistance is like going through a maze, blindfolded. Miss an annual renewal requirement? You might find your childcare benefits interrupted, leading to a scramble to find alternative care. Balancing work and the needs of foster children is a juggling act. Foster parents often have to navigate multiple appointments and the unique needs of their children, all while holding down a job. And guess what? Employers aren't always flexible. Foster children can have medical, emotional, or behavioral needs that require specialized care. This means some foster parents might need to be full-time caregivers, which makes it challenging to hold a job outside the home. There are limitations on who can provide respite care, and these services often come with strict time limits. For foster parents, it’s not as simple as calling grandma to come over on short notice. Sudden changes, emergency placements, or behavioral issues at school can lead to last-minute childcare needs. Foster parents need to be on their toes and ready to adjust at a moment’s notice, which is tough without a flexible support system. Foster families deserve better support. Understanding these challenges is a step towards improving childcare solutions for them.

But let’s be honest: the people making these decisions often aren’t acting in good faith. Instead, they’re driven by self-preservation, power plays, and a toxic need to control the narrative. They prioritize their own comfort over doing what’s right. This isn’t just a failure of leadership—it’s a betrayal of the very values they claim to uphold. Network marketing has a bad rap…and I get it. Many companies design compensation plans that aren’t built for long-term success. And on top of that, they set up building structures that make it hard for people to thrive. Then you have recruiters/partners/reps promising people “pie in the sky” nonsense about making money without effort. So they don’t put in the work, see zero results, and then claim they were scammed. Can we stop the madness already? 🤦🏼‍♀️ Network marketing is an extremely lucrative opportunity, but it requires selling and it does require work! (even if it feels like fun work) Along with personal growth 😉 The opportunity is fantastic— 💥 Work from anywhere 💥 Low start-up cost 💥 Unlimited income potential 💥 Free leadership training & mentorship But, you’ve got to find the right company. Does it have a solid structure that’s built to last? Who’s leading it? Are they guided by Jesus? Do you truly believe in the product? Are you passionate about helping others with it? One year ago, my husband and I prayerfully took a leap of faith into network marketing. And guess what? It’s been the best decision ever. 🥂 👉🏼 My heart literally healed itself with the phototherapy patches. 👉🏼 When my husband was out of work for two months with no unemployment, we we're taken care of. Lifewave has been an incredible blessing. As a transformational coach, I’m passionate about seeing others break free and step into their God-given potential—so it’s been amazing to see the impact we’re having here as well. We’re part of an incredible team that’s added over 1500 people in just a the last few weeks—because when God’s in it, it works. Dress codes are a joke -- one that many women don't find funny. That's because most dress codes seem to be written exclusively for us, usually taking up far more space in employee handbooks than the fashion rules for our male co-workers. The typical corporate dress code is another way to place women firmly in a tiny box, shaming us for our bodies and holding us accountable for men's unwillingness to control their impulses. It's yet another way we baby men in this society, a sort of talking down to them that isn't altogether fair or accurate. I'll say it: not all men have an impulse control problem. The ones that do cause a vast over-correction for the rest of us. And guess what? What a woman wears or doesn't wear has ZERO bearing on a man's self-control. I know this from lived experience. When I worked at HGTV, the president of the network used to leer at my chest constantly. I developed DDD b🍳asts in the 6th grade, so I had spent a lifetime "covering myself" (AKA hiding) so I wouldn't attract unwanted attention from men. In the case of my leering TV boss, I would be sure to cover up more than usual on days I met with him. I'd never wear V- or scoop-necks, and I'd add a cardigan or blazer. Much to my chagrin, it didn't matter. He leered at me no matter what I was wearing. Since that job, I've done a lot of interior work to unravel my own s$xism. I'm ashamed to say that I used to judge other women for what they wore without giving a thought to what men wore. In doing so, I reinforced harmful stereotypes of women being wanton vixens with one goal in life: tempting men. I no longer do that because I no longer believe that about women. I'm no longer indoctrinated. I believe women should be able to wear whatever we want. I also believe that men are capable of controlling themselves. They have to want to control themselves, and many do. But nothing I or any other women chooses to wear dictates that control. I'm ashamed to say that 15 years ago, I would have "policed" the women in this video. I would have judged them and felt strident and imperious about it. That was my internalized misogyny screaming. These days, I look at the women in the video with admiration. They look beautiful because they look confident. And as long as they hit their outcomes at work, who cares what they wear? It's the work that matters, not some performative, arbitrary set of rules about what constitutes "professional" clothing. #business #professional #dresscode #women

Leaders and executives at startups frequently decide not to share financial health information with the organization/their teams because they're afraid people will leave. Deciding to not share information because you don't want people to bolt is a terrible reason not to communicate transparently with employees. As it relates to the health of the organization, transparent communication is key. When things start to feel uncertain or scary, you have to be open, honest, and transparent with your team. You've hired intelligent people and they will know when they aren't being told the whole story. In fact, your employees deserve the opportunity to "run for the hills" if they don't feel confident or secure in the business. Trapping them there by withholding information isn't going to create the trust, confidence, or goodwill that you want in your employees. During change, challenging times, or uncertainty, you have to prioritize empathy and transparency. This gives you the opportunity to refocus your team on updated strategy and allows your team to make an impact.
