Can Yelp for Businesses Out-Compete Its Rivals? In the fast-paced world of online reviews, businesses are constantly looking for ways to outshine their competition and attract more customers. While Yelp has long been the frontrunner in this arena, other platforms like OpenTable, Yahoo, and Angi are emerging as formidable contenders in the battle for business dominance. With unique features and benefits tailored to help businesses succeed, these platforms offer a valuable opportunity to reach a wider audience and stand out in a crowded marketplace. By harnessing the power of user-friendly interfaces, targeted advertising, customer engagement tools, and real-time booking capabilities, businesses can leverage these platforms to enhance their online presence and drive more sales. So, while Yelp remains a major player in the world of online reviews, businesses have a plethora of options at their disposal to compete, thrive, and ultimately succeed in the digital age. By embracing the strengths of each platform and adapting to the evolving needs of their customers, businesses can navigate the competitive landscape with confidence and secure their position as industry leaders. https://lnkd.in/e3B9jVdW...

Alex & Annie: The Real Women of Vacation Rentals
🏆 The companies winning at vacation rental marketing have a strategic CMO driving the narrative. 💡 Alex drops some 💎s on why having a Chief Marketing Officer is key for vacation rental brands. Too often, companies check the tactical boxes (SEO, PPC, email) without an overarching strategy. But the real magic happens when you have a CMO quarterbacking an integrated, proactive marketing approach that elevates the brand beyond just filling properties. ✨ As Alex puts it, "We're in the business of making memories." A great CMO helps craft and share that narrative year-round through thoughtful campaigns. 💭 Is your vacation rental marketing disjointed and reactive, or is it telling a cohesive story? The difference could be a strategic CMO at the helm. #VacationRentalMarketing #CMOInsights #BrandStrategy #VacationRentals Alex O. Husner🌎 Annie Holcombe

Following the lead of large brands for messaging can be misleading. Take HubSpot as an example. With phrases like “grow better,” “drive results,” or “easy to use,” paired with standard stock imagery, their messaging feels generic and cliched. But here’s the thing: they’re HubSpot. They’ve built such a strong reputation that their messaging could be anything, and people would still buy. Everyone knows what they do, so the specifics of their messaging aren’t as critical. Now, if your company is making $20M, $10M, or even less a year, and you’re fighting for space in a competitive market, your messaging does matter. Don’t look to category leaders for inspiration. Find what resonates with your audience and iterate to refine it.

It’s baffling how some B2B companies approach customer service. Something didn't seem right with a piece of software that is fairly integral to our outbound efforts and demand generation. It integrates with a few other key pieces of software, but to spare a trip down a rabbit hole; it’s been broken for several weeks, and it’s only come to my attention because I became concerned about results from this channel. I log a ticket, and received a quick reply, “We have been experiencing some issues…” Yep, and for weeks! And this is a tech company; they could blast their affected customers with an email in seconds. Great retailers don’t make this mistake. They are proactive. Customer order or repair won't make it on time? An item was ordered that is no longer in stock or available? The customer gets a proactive text/email/call with an apology and an update. Basic, minimum expectations that build/maintain trust. But many fall short of that expectation... Anyone who has been in a shop and dealt first-hand with a customer that our service has negatively impacted; their wedding, a birthday gift, or a special event - it is an awful feeling. And at times it’s not even our fault, but that is hardly the point… B2B companies would benefit from having their leaders work in a store for a month. #retail #retailtraining #retailtech

In the latest "Morning, Sam. Morning, Ralph." podcast, Ned Algeo founder of The Multipli Group tackles some myths about the #CFO. He points out that people often think CFOs just crunch numbers all day, but that's not the case. Surprisingly, only about 10-20% of his job actually involves finance. The bulk of his time – around 80% – is spent helping the restaurant group and its people become more profitable. Ned's advice? When you're pitching to a CFO, remember they've got a solid grasp of how the whole business runs, including the tech side of things. 🍿 Watch the full episode and find out "How to Close the Deal with the CFO." 📺 https://lnkd.in/e9JtDjUZ 🍌 #bananastand #restaurants #popcorngtm #podcast #finance

Concept Logistics
Hot Take: You can do it both ways simultaneously with Concept. (Okay, maybe not both in the way that the quote was intended but stay with us...) Concept can consolidate your volumes and leverage our collective buying power to often deliver over 8% savings as time goes on—an ROI that helps you *make more*. Our teams can help customers processing 20-250 invoices per week reduce that amount to one weekly invoice per mode. At the same time our communication strategies can save customers an average of 2 hours per week depending on the scope of our partnership. These increases in efficiencies help you *spend less* time in the weeds and more time doing what is needed to help your business grow. Is the interpretation of the quote a stretch? Maybe. Is what Concept can do for you true? 100%

A “build it and they will come” approach skips over work that’s essential for any startup. Distilling your brand strategy, sharpening your value prop, listening to your target customer on why they are hiring you, and then clarifying how you’ll communicate all of that back to your customer is foundational — not optional. Simons Marketing
"Of all the professional services industries Hinge studies, accounting firms are among the slowest growers." There are lots of potential reasons for that, but since I live in world of marketing, I'll stick to three ideas that tie-in with the Hinge article (linked below): 1. Always Align Marketing with Firm Goals: This article talks about the problem with planning by consensus. I agree... asking every partner to be involved in marketing planning is a sure-fire way to get bogged down. However, with a respected marketer in the lead position, planning can be done well if you always sync the marketing with your firm's goals. It’s not just about throwing money at ads; it’s about strategic alignment for intentional and profitable growth. 2. Strategic execution makes all the difference: This article talks about asking marketers to be good at everything in a way that the accounting and tax staff is not. Marketing is one word that means a lot of things. No one person can be good at them all. Instead, a mix of employees and specialized outsiders is the path to success. Many firms hire an early career person as their first marketing employee; making a marketing strategist the next best outsourced partner. 3. Monitor results - with intentional adjustments or terminations as needed: Marketing isn't something you can do for a while when everyone is excited, but drop when client demands get to be too much. Instead, it's important to decide what you'll do forever (thought leadership articles, social media, etc) and what you can pilot to see if it meets your pre-established metrics for success. Those metrics can be marketing metrics (like clicks or site visits) but should also include increases in the quality of new prospects as defined by your client-acceptance criteria. Adaptability is your best friend here. You can read Hinge's original take here: https://hubs.ly/Q02G5mMF0
