Super grateful to the The Salt Lake Tribune for publishing my op-ed today on how developing public land won’t solve Utah’s housing crisis. Utah's housing crisis is a complex challenge that requires innovative, community-driven solutions, and allowing wealthy developers to privatize more of our public lands is not a good plan. Our natural spaces are more than just scenic views; they are vital to our well-being, our ecosystem, and our identity as a state. In my op-ed, I touch on: - The false promise of affordable housing through the development of public lands. - The irreplaceable value of our natural spaces for mental and physical health. - The need for alternative solutions like loosening restrictive regulations on accessory dwelling units and allowing homeowners to rent out parts of their homes. Let's protect our public lands and work together to create a housing market that benefits all Utahns. Now is the time to stand for sustainable growth that honors both our heritage and our future.
