Here's how you can effectively train customer service representatives on new technology.
We learn best by doing. The most successful implementation of new technology in a customer service environment is to have a test environment and role plays on specific service transactions that are included in training and as refresher/reinforcement tools for Supervisors. Another success technique is to engage employees in the transition. Identify a few frontline team members who are fast adopters/advocates to serve as your new system ambassadors and have them communicate tips to their peers to help drive adoption. Getting information directly from a peer "in their shoes" will help improve the learning experience.

Here's how you can foster a customer-centric culture in your organization.
One of the most important aspects of driving customer centricity is through your culture. Do you aspire to have an organization of customer ambassadors? If so, you need to think it, feel it, act on it. Employees at all levels must understand the value they add to becoming customer centric - from how they engage with customers to how their success is measured. Building a customer centric culture is not turnkey, it must live and breathe. One recommendation is to develop a robust communication strategy on the what's/why's/how's of the shift to drive employee commitment and engagement in the new strategy.

What do you do if your customer feedback tools aren't improving your customer experience?
Go Gemba, go to the "actual place", in this case where the interactions are taking place. Gather employee feedback and cross-functional partners (ex. Sales Reps) insight to understand what they are hearing/observing from customers and the pain points in the customer journey that they have identified. Involve teams in formulating recommendations for improvement and prioritize the opportunities using the Eisenhower Matrix to identify low-lying fruit and build an execution plan and roadmap.

How can you incorporate training and development into your meeting agenda?
Continuous learning is so important and sadly, it gets pushed to the bottom of the list too often. At my weekly staff meeting, I allocate 10-15 minutes of the agenda to a “Lesson in Leadership”. I start off providing a brief video or topic and then we discuss it as a team. Another variation is to rotate the bringing of the content to your team and have them facilitate the session. One other way is to choose a book on a leadership topic aligned with a challenge your team is experiencing. Everyone reads one chapter a week and then take the “LIL” time of your weekly agenda to discuss what you learned and how to apply to current work situations. The last book we was “Reality Based Leadership” and we had “Essentialism” teed up next for Q1.
