You've lost trust with a key account due to miscommunication. How can you rebuild it effectively?
Rebuilding trust takes effort from both parties, especially when it is due to a miscommunication. The first step is to acknowledge the miscommunication and identify the root cause of what happened. Was it an email that was missed or something more significant like a budgetary item. Address your responsibility in the miscommunication, apologize and immediately rectify it. Then, proactively offer solutions to the client on how to avoid miscommunications in the future. Be prepared with an accountability plan for how you are going to measure the selected solution and how often. Bring in an Executive Sponsor to the account to show that their account is valuable.
