The Cigna Group Foundation's mission is to improve health equity and mental health but get this: They don’t allow their grant to fund the fringe benefits of the people enacting the work.… LOL. Let’s lose the hypocrisy of wanting to solve a health equity crisis while not supporting the health benefits of those solving the health crisis, ok? It’s enough of a #CrappyFundingPractice that you don’t fund administrative expenses, Cigna, but to draw the line at funding salaries while excluding integrated costs like benefits and payroll taxes? Have you never seen what goes into a nonprofit budget?! ARGH. How is it necessary that we need to say this: When you fund a nonprofit, you’re funding the humans that work there, and those humans deserve health care, and need unemployment insurance, and whatever FICA is…. This is one of several reasons I have chosen to no longer work within insurance provider networks. I have nothing personally against insurance companies; in fact, I started my business career as a health claims adjuster for a major insurer. Insurance companies are legitimate businesses that have a right to do business and to try to generate profit for their shareholders. Likewise, healthcare providers must always weigh the benefits and drawbacks for their patients and their practices when deciding how to provide services - so they can not only stay in business but also act in the best interest of their patients. We have a right to rely on honesty from other entities upon whom we count on to assist us in operating for our clients' highest good. I received two inquiries this week alone (and it's only Wednesday!) from prospective new clients whose insurance companies had indicated that I'm still an in-network provider, despite my having sent timely and proper notice to all companies I've worked with of my intent to withdraw. It frustrates me that I'm now having to go back and double-check my status with each one of them. More than that, though, it's a very frustrating for insured persons to waste time trying to find providers who can actually help them. I feel for them.

Forms include Parent, Teacher, and Self-Report where applicable. 2️⃣ RCMAS-3 (Revised Childhood Manifest Anxiety Scale, Third Edition) is an anxiety measure rating scale that quickly brings into focus the often-invisible worry, stress, and fear that can lead to academic difficulties, social withdrawal, substance abuse, and other problems. The age range is 4-19 years and includes Parent, Teacher, and Self-Report forms. 3️⃣ SRS-3 (Social Responsiveness Scale, Third Edition) is a life span measure examining social communication behaviors as an indicator of symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This behavior rating scale/questionnaire is applicable to individuals from age 2 years, 6 months through adulthood. Depending on the individual being assessed, a parent, teacher, and/or the individual completes one of the 5 forms (based on age): Preschool, School-Age, School-Age Self‑Report, Adult Self-Report, Adult (Other/Caregiver).
