These Bay Area cities are getting $43 million from the state for homeless housingAs we continue to see the devastating effects of homelessness in our communities, it's encouraging to hear that the state is taking action. Bay Area cities are set to receive a whopping $43 million in funding for homeless housing, and we couldn't be happier about it! 💸🏠 This much-needed investment will go towards providing safe and stable housing for those experiencing homelessness, as well as offering support services to help them get back on their feet. It's a step in the right direction towards ending homelessness in our region. 🙌 We applaud the efforts of the state and local governments in addressing this pressing issue. It's a reminder that when we work together, positive change can happen. Let's continue to push for more solutions and support for those in need. ❤️ We also want to recognize the hard work and dedication of the organizations and individuals on the frontlines, tirelessly working towards ending homelessness. The UC Irvine Community and Government Relations team hosted a briefing and tour for the business, educational, energy, and environmental communities on July 23, 2024 at the UCI School of Physical Sciences as they shared some of the cutting-edge research🔬focused on sustainability🌲 issues facing our environment. We represented ASIANS IN ENERGY (AIE) to learn about the latest in innovative energy research & production, especially fusion & hydrogen, to help connect our members with contracting, investment and partnership opportunities with private & public entities. The program began with the following speakers: ✅ P. Alberto Sandoval, Assistant Vice Chancellor, Government and Community Relations, UC Irvine ✅ Sherry M., Vice Chancellor, Strategic Communications & Public Affairs, UC Irvine ✅ Dr. James Bullock, Ph.D., Dean of UCI School of Physical Sciences, UC Irvine After the presentation by Dr. Bullock, the school led tours of laboratories housed within UCI's Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building (ISEB). We learned from research investigating clean energy, hydrogen power, and carbon dioxide capture.  In addition, we observed research that is leveraging lessons from nature to develop next-generation materials for energy conversion and storage, attracting investment from the United States Air Force (USAF)🇺🇸 and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for possible use for military defense. #academia #business #carboncapture #cleanenergy #energy #engineering #environment #fusion #government #hydrogen #materialsscience #military #natgas #power #publicaffairs #research #RandD #science #sustainability #utilities

BGCSPS also supports amazing things outside of the clubs including Teen Mental Health First Aid training - a program that coaches teens in grades 10-12 or ages 15-18 on how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use, challenges among their friends and peers. 🌟 Reflections on Yesterday's Seminar in Strategic Management at Cal State Fullerton🌟 Yesterday's class was an eye-opener as we delved deeper into Porter’s Five Forces framework. While I’ve previously learned about these forces, the discussion provided a fresh perspective on how they impact both incumbents in an industry and new entrants. It’s fascinating to see how these forces shape competitive strategies and industry dynamics. One of the highlights of our seminar was analyzing the ongoing cola war between Coca-Cola and Pepsi. The way these two giants continually strive to outdo each other is not just a battle for market share; it’s a testament to how competition can drive innovation and strengthen both companies. Their rivalry has led to groundbreaking marketing strategies and product innovations that have reshaped the beverage industry. However, it also sparked some thoughts about the future of carbonated soft drinks. With a growing consumer preference for healthier options, I can’t help but wonder how Coca-Cola and Pepsi will adapt. I'm excited to continue exploring these topics and understanding the strategic implications in our upcoming classes. As I sit here in my office, watching the fog roll in over the San Mateo hills, I can't help but reflect on the incredible journey of being a female business owner in the heart of Silicon Valley. It's a wild ride, filled with ups, downs, and more cups of coffee than I can count! But here's the thing: we don't have to navigate this entrepreneurial roller coaster alone. One of the most valuable lessons I've learned is the importance of surrounding yourself with a tribe of fierce, fabulous female entrepreneurs who just GET it. When the days are long and the coding challenges seem endless, having a support system of women who have been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt (probably from a fellow female-owned business) can make all the difference. There are so many amazing online and offline communities for women in business. From Polka Dot to NAWBO, Peninsula Women's Business Connection to Pro Visors Women Affinity Group, and The Mastermind Networking Group, these spaces are gold mines of advice, encouragement, and solidarity. Picture this: you're facing a tough decision about scaling your business. You could spend hours going in circles in your own head OR you could reach out to your group of savvy sister entrepreneurs and get their insights. Suddenly, that mountain of a decision feels more like a molehill! And let's not forget the power of a good old-fashioned coffee chat or glass of wine with a fellow female founder. Swapping stories, sharing struggles, and celebrating wins together - it's like therapy, but with better snacks! So, my advice to all you brilliant women building your empires in San Mateo and beyond? Find your tribe and hold them tight. Surround yourself with ladies who lift you up, make you laugh, and remind you that you've got this, even on the foggiest of days.
