I love it when I get to do this. Yesterday I got to share with Safeco Insurance's leadership team all that we are doing in the Wisconsin market. We are in a hard market, there is no doubt about it. All of the work we have put forward is letting us and our agents see the light at the end of the tunnel. It was great to share all the work that we are doing alongside our agency partners to maximize the growth opportunities this market brings. I got to share how agencies are positioning themselves to find efficiencies and perform at a higher level than ever before. Many are using technology to improve their service and sales cycle. I shared stories of how forward thinking agencies pivoted and the results they are seeing. Agencies are investing in their staff's professional development so they can level up and meet the higher expectations their clients have of them and how. I got to share how I have helped almost 40 agents take that next step whether they are in sales or in a service role. We continue to see a lot of carrier consolidation. Agents continue to evaluate who are the agency partners they want to move forward with through this market and need help consolidating. I love it when I get to talk about the work my team is doing with our agents and why Wisconsin agents are amongst the best Safeco partners I could ask for.

Win hearts ❤️, earn minds 🧠 The end user of insurance (the employee) doesn’t care about how complex or savvy the benefits plan design is. Or if it’s fully insured, self funded or in a captive. All they care about is if it’s easy to use/understand and if it will be there for them when they need to use it. Period. Our industry thinks the way to serve people is by setting up the most fiscally sound, complex plan possible. That works for the C-suite, not the people who use it. So take the insurance blinders off, think critically about the people that actually use the insurance, and work like hell to get them to engage with it. Short of that, we’re all just creating an ocean of noise that people couldn’t care less about. It’s been three months since I’ve been ‘officially’ on the job as president of Group Insurance – and what a ride it’s been! They say the first 90 days of any job are critical, and during this important time of transition I’ve learned a thing or two (or five to be exact) that I’d like to share. 1. Listen, learn, then lead One of the biggest highlights in my new role has been spending time with employees during roundtables and site visits which has energized me and helped positively shape our future. The success of my first 90 days is thanks to the great team around me. 2. Embracing the art of the possible I’m entrenched in the external marketplace to understand trends within the workplace. While we can’t predict what the world will look like in 3-5 years, we’re exploring new products, technology and strategic partners such to discover new opportunities, provide a better experience for customers and embrace the art of the possible.   3. Strategy, strategy, strategy Strategy first, always. For me, it’s important that the entire Group Insurance organization learns and focuses on the strategy. With our future in mind, and a roadmap to get there, we can set ourselves up for success and continue delivering on our promises like Prudential has done for nearly 150 years.   4. Hungry to win I love a little friendly competition! Translate that into the professional world, and I’m inspired by our organization – we’ve got tenacity, a relentless spirit and we’re hungry to win. There’s a buzz across this team, we are competing and playing to win.   5. Ringing the bell One of the biggest takeaways from my first 90 days is learning to celebrate not only the big wins, but the incremental wins, too. That’s why I introduced a bell ringing ceremony in our last Town Hall. Our smaller achievements are just as important as the big milestones. Work (and life) can be a grind, and it’s only when we pause to recognize the tiny victories that we’ll be able to keep our eye on the goal and know we’re making progress.

As I reflect on my 25 years in the P&C insurance and leadership space, one thing remains constant: my love for connections! If you know me, you know I'm a connector at heart. If I'm being candid, there's nothing quite like the satisfaction of finding that perfect match – the right candidate for the right role, elevating teams to new heights of success. In my role as Chief Finder of Keepers, I've discovered that matchmaking isn't just for romance; it's ABSOLUTELY for careers too! Finding those keepers who bring passion, dedication, and innovation to the table is truly energizing.
