Burns people out, no watercooler moments, no cultural staying power "What's the best way to experience the major water-cooler shows commonly considered to be "appointment viewing"? Is the binge model popularized by Netflix the way to approach things, in which viewers are able to spend a whole weekend devouring every episode of an entire season all in one go? Or is it better to exercise a little patience and release episodes one at a time in weekly installments, allowing word-of-mouth momentum to build while keeping the entire production at the center of the cultural conversation for much, much longer? (Or, perhaps, we can have the best of both worlds through "Hacks.")

🔎 Testing Arium on Apple's Safari delivered a high-quality stream in HD with 60fps. 👀 Our focus is on two primary streaming protocols: SRT and WebRTC. Haivision' SRT and W3C's WebRTC are both used for streaming media, but they are designed for different use cases and have distinct features. SRT is designed for low-latency (starting from 20 ms), high-quality video streaming over unreliable networks. It primarily uses UDP for transport, with mechanisms like ARQ (Automatic Repeat reQuest) and FEC (Forward Error Correction) to handle packet loss and ensure reliable delivery, which is a great advantage. WebRTC offers ultra-low latency suitable for real-time interactions. I am very proud to announce the cinematic trailer for Everreach Lab's REVENGE hyper social cooperative PVE arena extraction game. https://lnkd.in/gsEsNkUp The "hyper social" part is powered by oxytocin reward loop technology, which I have been developing in secret since I published The Rise of Game Neuroeconomics in 2014. You can find that and my other papers on my Game Economics Substack (https://lnkd.in/gSHnusQv). Ultimately I would like to have this model replace the dopamine reward loops (which I also published an explanation of the same year) that are causing so much damage to consumers today. REVENGE also has a number of other revolutionary technologies under the hood. It is a seemless F2P Web2/Web3 bridge game with no need for a visible wallet. Game economics techniques I've developed over the last 25 years are used to generate strong upward pressure on token value, which is critical to the sustainability of Web3 game products. This also protects investors, which is critical for building a complete commercial trust ecosystem. REVENGE gameplay involves the interdependent involvement of 3 classes of players: Raiders (the arena fighters), Guides (similar to Operators in the Matrix franchise), and Oracles (highly gameplay-integrated spectators). This is all made possible by an extremely updated Twitch API layer. When players spend in REVENGE, the vast majority of premium currencies used goes to other players instead of into a microtransaction black hole. Thus monetisation becomes pleasurable instead of something that is looked at with dread by players. REVENGE is a complex game, but we are making very rapid and pragmatic progress towards a full market release in early 2025. We are already allowing some investors to run around in our world. Web3 will not be properly established as the next thing in gaming until we demonstrate a significant increase in value to players, and this is our target. My full interview with Jaeho Hwang, Game Director of Dave the Diver! A few key takeaways: -Player feedback through playtesting/early-access was critical for key elements of the game design (was button-mashing a bug or a feature?) -The inspiration for the IP/Story was drawn from personal life experiences "The ocean is one big dungeon". -Many of the mechanics built into the game came from years of building Mobile/Social applications -- the Sushi Bar component of the game was originally a Mobile Game idea that was nearly scrapped! -It's hard to insert humor/charm into games "we try to make hilarious characters, an exaggerate it." It’s one thing to develop advanced capabilities like screen visualization understanding. It’s another thing to create actual business applications from them. The fact that it’s already at scale at the production level - with a decent and above performance - that’s groundbreaking speed for innovation-to-consumer usage shift. Forget classic data. Sometimes it's the most subtle AI announcements that are the biggest deal... Being able to access GitHub repositories directly from Claude now makes Claude an even bigger winner for coding. So much of my coding time is spent copying and pasting examples from github to fix Claude's stale/incorrect recollection of APIs. ...Not to mention the ability to hook this up directly to a database.
