How can you develop emotional resilience during a long production process?
One of the keys to developing any skill - physical or emotional, is to train and practice. Pre-Production is a great time to start preparing for the work ahead. The beauty and sometimes the beauty that comes from the pain is that every shoot has an element of unpredictability. Getting yourself in that mindset, knowing that you WILL overcome any adversity and challenge that comes your way is part of that training. Another thing to work on before you ever start is to remember why you do what you do - for the love of it! Every day is a great day - rain or shine, easy or difficult -even when it really isn't that great a day, it could be worse. You can have a "regular job" ;)

What are the most effective ways to engage film production employees?
Start by not calling them "employees" ;) The key is to put together the right team for the right project - which is not purely based on talent or skill. From there, engage with everyone on and off set and make sure they feel like they're part of something beyond the daily work. Make sure there are rules and protocols but always listen and keep your eyes and ears open to adapt as things change and evolve and keep people in the loop. And say, please and Thank you :)
