Our team enjoyed Figma Config 2024 from the comfort of our sofas 🛋️ Here are our takeaways from the Opening Keynote and product updates. 🤖 AI integrations We’re stoked about new AI features to speed up workflow, like layer renaming and new search features. The demo for Make Design text prompt to UI design was exciting and terrifying to witness. The comments were full of doom comments from designers convinced our jobs will be replaced by AI. While our team tends see AI as a tool that still needs designers’s critical thinking, it’s certainly dizzying to see how fast AI is progressing. There are plenty of issues to stay alert to—including IP concerns, which ultimately led to Figma taking down the Make Design feature this week. We’ll continue to stay alert to the implications. 📊 Figma Slides We use Figma to make all our decks, so excited to see native functionality for speaker notes and integrating prototypes directly into decks. If Slides switches to paid add-on in a year, we likely wouldn’t add that on since our team has developed our own templated system that serves us well. 🔌 Extending Figma with the plugin API Creating plugins for Figma is not as hard as it sounds and is supported by a really robust plugin API ✨ We loved seeing the different examples from developers in the community, with applications ranging from enhancing workflows to generating specialized graphics We’re inspired to build some helpful tools for our design team! ❓ What did you think? #figma #config #figmaconfig2024 #figmaconfig #learning #design #designtools #howwedesign
