Securing the requisite load needed to power EV charging is a constant uphill battle. A large load connection to the grid is an asset that will appreciate with time as supply and demand on the grid is squeezed by transportation electrification, AI data centers, and removal of carbon-based generation facilities. When is a utility NOT a utility, and how can they affect massive change for EV charging optimization at scale? Low income customers are paying cost to save planet through their sweat … It’s really a time to ask this question, is rapid energy transition really good for Low income and disadvantaged communities? While rich can afford and pay higher price, Lower income customers have to choose between food on the table or electricity ? Many low-income households have struggled to afford the bills. California households owed $2.1 billion in unpaid utility bills at the end of 2023, more than four times the amount in 2019. Around 27% of Californians have missed payments on utility bills in the past year, one of the highest percentages in the U.S. Last year, around 215,000 Californians had their power shut off for nonpayment; more than a fifth of those didn’t have their services restored.

California targets 100% renewable energy by 2045. Battery energy storage, installed on the customer’s side of the meter, can store energy from renewable solar and wind for later use as well as: ✔️ensure reliable power during grid outages ✔️reduce utility bills ✔️cut carbon emissions To accelerate battery energy storage adoption, the Energy Storage Permitting Guidebook (funded by the California Energy Commission) offers best practices to streamline permitting. California leads the way in solar generation, with Texas and Florida following closely behind. Texas also leads the wind generation, as much as the next 3 states (Iowa, Oklahoma and Kansas) combined. These stats are encouraging, but put into context (4% of the nations electricity through solar, 10% through wind), we still have a long way to go to meet net zero targets. #energytransition #cleanenergy #keepmovingforward

💡 The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) ordered grid operator PJM Interconnection to plan for future transmission needs, a necessity for the advancement of solar, wind, and storage projects. 💡 Over 167 GW of large-scale solar, wind, and storage projects are awaiting interconnection studies by PJM due to the lack of transmission capacity. 💡 The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has proposed plans for a major “national interest” transmission corridor in the PJM region for a clean energy grid. As changes in the world of solar power pave the way for a greener future, the FERC has called for a transmission planning process that will satisfy the future needs of our ever-growing energy grid. With an impressive 167 GW of large-scale solar, wind, and storage projects currently awaiting interconnection studies, the need for a well-organized plan is clear.
