Find Your Niche Right Away? Think Again! I still remember the day I started my Virtual Assistant journey. Everyone told me, "Find your niche!" It sounded simple, but something didn't feel right. Why were people pushing me to specialize so soon? Didn't they know I was still figuring things out? I decided to take a different path. Instead of niching down immediately, I chose to explore. I tried administrative tasks, social media management, email support – you name it! That decision changed everything. I discovered what I loved (and what I didn't). I found out where my strengths lay and where I needed improvement. I even learned what type of clients I enjoyed working with. But here's the best part: I gained versatility. I became confident in my ability to adapt and learn. Looking back, I realize that niching down too early would have limited me. I would have missed out on valuable learning opportunities and possibly even stagnated. So, if you're a new Virtual Assistant, take my advice: Don't stress about finding your niche right away. Focus on: • Developing essential skills (communication, organization, time management) • Building a professional online presence • Networking with experienced VAs and industry professionals • Continuously learning and improving Your niche will reveal itself as you gain experience and confidence. MY FIRST POST ON #LINKEDIN Since 2020, my godfather, Desmond Jimoh , has always been clamoring about why I should be active on #LinkedIn. Reasons LinkedIn is his favorite #socialmedia platform, how he has grown his network on LinkedIn, and how he has connected with some #caliber of people due to LinkedIn . I downloaded this almighty #LinkedIn in 2020, and I got drowned in its world. I found myself saying to myself, "Oh! What world is this?" Why is everyone having all these #achievements? Where will I start from? How is this young lady sealing deals with white companies? And still, I didn't drop one post. In 2022, I honed my skill as a #contentwriter, freelancing as a #writer and customer care representative in a friend's company, Artsy Galleria , since 2021, while on the other side, writing scripts for another production company. I started writing # content and tried my hands on many creative things. Not so long after, I got a job opportunity to resume as a #Communication and #OperationalManager in a cleaning company in Lagos. I soon perished the thoughts of being active here, as my engagements were too tight (so I thought to myself). In 2023, I had friends who believed so much in my writing that many would reach out to write content for their businesses, revamp CVs (someone even got an American scholarship via a resume I revamped), revamp social media pages, and I knew I should be using the same energy for myself too. I was the most dormant writer I have ever known across social media platforms. So this is me reincarnating my social life with my first post on LinkedIn, four years after my first appearance. I don't know how to feel. Should I feel fulfilled, finally posting here, scold myself for tarrying till now, or feel shy for telling all this? But eventually, one thing I know is that this year I realized how much I have failed to own up to my skills by not exhibiting my wittiness and strength in writing and other areas of my career path. I've decided to take the bull by its horns now. Permit me to introduce myself to you, oh LinkedIn! Dear Writer; Don't take for granted the ideas that come to your mind. Ideas, no matter how minute you think they are, can be a transgenerational solution when implemented. ‼️Don't overlook your ideas. ‼️Pen them down as it drops. ‼️Brood over them. ‼️Develop strategies and do your research. ‼️Implement them as a matter of urgency. Sometimes, you may not even need that idea now, but they will come in handy in the future. Yes, an idea does not need to be complicated before you realize that it could be your answered prayer. Experience Doesn't Matter ☝ This morning, I assigned my #media #writing students to compose an ad that has a striking impact verbally and visually. I selected #veja since I was wearing them, and they're a popular brand. I provided them with a quick mockup ad I created with an image I pulled from online, a creative brief, additional details needed, and 45 minutes to complete the assignment. When it was time to #pitch I was blown away. Not because they finished on time, but because of the eye for #creativity they possess. The assignment was to help them shape their understanding of different forms of writing, but I was not expecting such dynamic eyes and creativity. 🌟 Why am I sharing this? I'm sharing this because this is a prime example of #candidates with 0 years of #experience. They aren't #MarComm professionals. They don't have 5+ years of ad #agency experience. They are hungry #college kids. Sometimes the person with the least experience has the most #drive, creativity, and fresh ideas vs. those with years under their belt. With 15+ years of experience, I try to give everyone a chance, especially those with little to no experience because we ALL were once that person. Don't brush off the candidate with little to no experience the next time you're interviewing. You, your team, and your organization may miss out on top #talent to help your organization #thrive. 🚨 The images used I allowed them to pull from the internet so I don't own the rights. The assignment was focused on media writing elements, and I got their permission to post these. Also, please be kind. I teach an array of students from multiple backgrounds who are still adapting to the English language.

The recent community fact finding mission organized by the Get Healthy Africa Initiative GHAi exposed me to the challenges affecting the implementation of inclusive education in Nigeria some of which are: -Inadequate plans for the identifications of children with special learning disabilities. -Most special needs schools are located in urban centers: in communities we covered on the fact-finding mission, there is no single provision for students with special needs -Parents lack adequate information and guidance on available special education services, some parent refused to agree the need to give their children with special learning disabilities specialized education or rather choose to rule out the students by saying “schoolings is not for you". As we continue to advocate for inclusive education, we need to ensure that our impact is felt in at the grassroot level, our advocacy can reach larger audience through the media. People in this communities have access to Radio, we need make parents/ guardians understand that there is a thing call learning disabilities and ensure inclusivity is understood by everyone.
