Here's how you can highlight your transferable skills when transitioning to HR.
Think about specific examples where you used these skills, and have them ready when you’re interviewing. Consider highlighting and explaining these in a cover letter to demonstrate how these skills may transfer well to the job.

Here's how you can highlight your transferable skills when transitioning to HR.
One thing I found helpful to establish myself more in Human Resources Management was to obtain my SHRM certification. My Masters in Public Administration covered some Human Resources topics, but I found I brought more credibility to what I was saying and doing after being certified. This was a relatively easier process than getting another degree, and I was able to use a lot of what I already learned through experience and other training opportunities to round out my knowledge after studying the materials I purchased before taking the exam.

OUR BOARD
Wisconsin Humanities' 25 volunteer board members hail from all parts of the state. We seek members whose experience, training, interests, skills, cultural background, and community ties bring diversity, energy, and expertise to our programs. Approximately half of our board membership is drawn from the academic community and half from the community at large. New members are ordinarily elected to three-year terms at our February meeting, and assume office in June. Six members are appointed by the Governor. -
