One of our key go-to-market mantras and strategies at Heyday by Hootsuite was: “Standing on the shoulders of giants”. As a startup, it’s hard to compete with little-to-no marketing budget and zero brand recognition. Through value-add product integrations and strategic partnerships with the likes of Google, Meta and Shopify, we managed to piggyback on their aura to build our own brand and clout. We would leverage product synergies to unlock co-marketing opportunities with them such as case studies, webinars and thought leadership content that elevated our brand while thanking our partners for their trust. It’s all about generating enough “trust signals” for your customers to take the leap with you — and standing on the shoulders of giants is a strategy that will help you go from zero to hero in your market segment much faster than if you did it on your own. gm. Gas.zip April look back — This month we saw another increase in volume for 6 months in a row. 25% jump in users & 50% jump in transactions. We‘re at 2.5 million transactions on LayerZero. We’re very excited to be building on such a robust protocol and to keep growing together. We also added another 18 chains. We want Gas.zip to be the source of truth for exploring new chains. It’s a priority for us to add as many new chains as possible, while still allowing users to refuel gas on up to 40 chains at once. We spoke at the LayerZero Lounge to discuss our journey and where we’re looking ahead. And we also had a recorded Spaces with @arbitrum and we have several other Q&As planned with some top and upcoming chains. We saw integrations take off. Today was a big win for consumer health, with Flo Health Inc.'s valuation at $1 billion. We're hearing talk about the market becoming frothy again, but I’d argue—without seeing the detailed financials—that this valuation could be entirely warranted. Flo has built an impressive business, with 5 million paid subscribers and 70 million monthly active users. At $60 per year for users to access the product, this business has hundreds of millions in revenue and plenty of room to grow. It's increasingly clear to me that innovators focused on healthcare have been wildly underestimating consumer business models for years, believing that patients would only opt for solutions covered by their health plans and prescribed or recommended by their doctors. That thesis needs updating, particularly given high deductible plans and soaring co-pays. Innovators building solutions that users genuinely love will win - even in healthcare. These businesses also have the potential to move into B2B channels, which is far easier to do when you have an engaged, loyal user base. I expect we’ll see many more consumer health businesses “pop” in the years to come, further proving that consumers are ready and willing to pay for such solutions. We're watching closely at Cherish Kudos to the team at Flo for this impressive milestone. Founders - even those living in the Bay Area - post here how little they pay themselves. It’s the new humble brag. Investors high five and congratulate them. They certainly aren’t feeling the squeeze of being grossly underpaid. Lots of engagement from followers. So many comments. Unfortunately, unless you: - don’t have kids - live somewhere super cheap - have a partner who pays the bills - are already wealthy - have rich parents or can take on massive risk - run massive side hustles This just isn’t realistic for 99% of people. If you can’t pay yourself well, have you built a successful company? What happens when your situation changes and you are now broke because you didn’t pay yourself well enough? Your situation always changes. Invest in yourself so you can invest in your company long term. If you go away because you have to find a job, nobody wins.
