My wife and I have been involved in helping release children from poverty with Compassion International since 2009. In 2021, we were able to fund the launch of a Child Development Center in Ghana helping over 200 children, and that has been the thrill of a lifetime.

Prior to this, we were fortunate to participate in a Vision Trip to Ecuador. On that trip, we were able to spend time with a young lady and her Mom that we had known through one of our Compassion sponsorships for 11 years…

Prior to this, we were fortunate to participate in a Vision Trip to Ecuador. On that trip, we were able to spend time with a young lady and her Mom that we had known through one of our Compassion sponsorships for 11 years along with visiting Child Development Centers managed and run by Compassion International. We had exchanged many letters and pictures over the years, and then were able to meet in person. That was an awesome and life-changing experience!

My wife and I started getting involved with Children's HopeChest as sponsors in 2006. In 2015, I served as the project leader to raise funds and to then build a farming Co-op in Ngariam Uganda. This allows farmers to control supply during the wet and dry seasons, generate additional income, and help their community of 600 orphans, supported by these food supplies.

We raised over $65,000 and were able to build the Co-op building and buy a farming tractor. That project was one of the most rewarding endeavors of my career in many ways.

Hundreds of orphans in Ngariam Uganda are supported financially through individuals and families working with Children's HopeChest. In 2020, 85 young adults graduated from high school and entered colleges, vocation schools and local industry. The three CarePoints provide education, meals, activities and other support services. This is an amazing success story from deep poverty to great success for these young adults.

I love soccer with a passion and played from an early age. Unfortunately, I am now too old to get out there on the field and mix it up with the young adults. But, I was able to coach youngsters and had a lot of fun with that.

There is a great book for coaching soccer to kids ages 4-8 called "The Baffled Parent's Guide to Coaching Youth Soccer – July 19, 1999 by Bobby Clark (Author) .

An awesome soccer coach and friend pointed me to that book and it helped immensely in setting up fun games for practices and not driving kids to hate the game before they learn how to play well.

I met Abraham Siafa during a Visionary Leadership Conference in 2016 and that was a very fateful day. We have worked together on food relief and tuition-free school projects in Sierra Leone and it has been awesome to see the impacts.

Abraham has shared videos with thank you messages from children at the school and from people who received medical help and food supplies. You can see these on the Springs of Joy Ministries Philadelphia USA page on Facebook.

Abraham became a US citizen in September 2019 and that was such a great thing to see!

It has been inspirational to see he and his wife's tireless efforts in helping others and seeing what happens when others pitch in to help.
