Crime Stats versus Policing and the Reality of Crime in your Area. Let's discuss this topic further. Where I live in my experience especially policing, reported crime stats within our local agencies, is reported locally then reported to Tennessee Incident Base Reporting System or TIBRS then that data gets shared federally. I know a lot of cities do not submit all their reports to TIBRS, one due to lack of funding or they do not want their statistics reaching the state level, due to numerous reasons, usually political reasons. Higher crime rates mean less movement in industry in that area, less residents moving in that area, etc. Another reason, negative headlines. A lot of cities accurately report their numbers. There is still a lot who do not. Which is sad, because it only hurts it's citizens from understanding the true grasp of what is occurring in there area. Everytime I think about this topic, I think about big cities like Chicago, Memphis, Nashville, New York, San Francisco all these cities plagued with crime.
