#1 skill I’ve seen consistent across sales reps Is their ability to stay organized. It doesn’t mean unorganized reps can’t be successful, I know plenty that are. But a rep that can consistently execute a process will win a lot more often. This goes for: - Prospecting - Deals in early stages & follow up - Deal alignment with multiple stakeholders - Multi-threading - etc. Sadly, most deals are lost due to poor organization and follow up. SDR Leaders - What are you doing this week to drive a big push in the last 2 months of the quarter? SDR roles can be the most monotonous and soul destroying if you're just having to "smile and dial" all day. You've got to be self motivated every day and put up with rejection. It's our job to inject some fun and competition. Here's one idea, that I'm launching today. SDR Ryder Cup. 4 teams of 3, mixing our UK and US teams 9 holes, 3 par 3, 3 par 4 and 3 par 5 Different par holes have different difficulty levels to complete and win the hole based off KPIs and some fun things thrown in too. The benefits are obvious: Higher base Fewer deals to hit quota More support from SE & SDR Handful of customers rather than 100+ Close deals that your CEO will know about It's a no-brainer right? Sort of, but moving too soon can damage your career. Here's how it plays out: Top-performing SMB AE has never missed quota On $100k base but earns over $300k every year Gets offered an Enterprise gig. Doubles salary Put into a stone-cold patch with no support Works their arse off for 12-18 months Earns half what they earned before Decides to leave Rinse & repeat Your CV with solid tenure now has 3 short jumps on it. "🎣 SDRs: Are You Gathering Data for Your AE or Solving Pain for Your Prospect?" There are two mentalities when running a qualification call: 🌊The 'Inch Deep, Mile Wide' strategy covers multiple areas with different questions, gathering surface-level information that gives the AE plenty of threads to pull on. 🎯The 'Inch Wide, Mile Deep' approach focuses on one key area, uncovering a core pain point. It provides less total information, but it exposes the nerve that drives urgency for the prospect. SDR Prospecting is also Branding 🌟 When an SDR (Sales Development Rep) engages in 100 multichannel activities a day, it creates significant brand awareness. Here's the breakdown of assumption: 🗣️5 Phone conversations where prospects learn about your company 📧15 emails (opens, clicks, replies) 🔗10 LinkedIn connections and messages In total, that's 30 people who become aware of your brand in one single day. Even if only one meeting is set up immediately, 30 people now know about your company. Over time, this awareness grows, demonstrating that SDR efforts are indeed a form of branding and future engagement. 🌟 As a BDR, one of the biggest challenges I face is getting someone on the phone only to hear them say they’re in a meeting just a couple of minutes into the conversation. It can be frustrating! I didn’t “feel ready” as an AE: Until I did this… SDRs go into their next role with little to no training. Here’s what I did to get up to speed fast in the new role. → Get independent as soon as possible. You don’t learn until you’re in the driver seat, and make mistakes. Focus on the core skillset: - Discovery. - Next steps. - Demo. - Trial. - Etc.. Learn the BASICS. Get independent, and learn as you go. → Fill in the gaps. Go back to each step. Listen to top-performers calls. Note: - How do they run discovery? - How do they manage trials? - How do they demo? Copy & Imitate. Pro Tip: Invite them to a coffee chat, seek to understand the why behind why they do things. → Annoy your manager. Send them calls to review. Be specific with the sections and time stamps. Focus on areas where you could’ve done better. Take the feedback, and implement change. The main concept is to get in a position to start making mistakes. You won’t learn everything ahead of time. The best SDRs have a short-term memory… 👉 You face lots of rejection as an SDR. More than any other role. - Tough cold calls. - Unsubscribe emails. - Demo no-shows. Constant rejection sucks. But, we can fix that. Adopt a short-term memory. - View it as a learning moment rather than a rejection. - Expect only 10% of your accounts are going to buy. - Understand that rejection is a normal. - Celebrate small wins. - Have a call buddy. You don’t want: - One bad call effect the day. - One bad day to affect your week. - One bad week to affect a quarter. - One bad quarter to affect a year. So… Keep improving your skillset. One skill all sellers and SDRs should master: The ability to quickly identify things you can’t control and having the ability to let them go, and focus on what you can actually control. That’s how you ‘detach’, that’s confidence and that’s conviction. It takes guts to remain neutral in times of adversity or when it isn’t sunshine & rainbows. IE: have a gap to quota? Bad territory? Bad call? It’s okay to feel pissed. But it’s not okay to dwell on it. Or then let it show up in other areas of your life. Instead, feel how you feel and then start focusing your energy and time on what you can actually control. It’s a much more peaceful way to live and operate.

Summer months are tough for SDRs Prospects take A/L. Reps take A/L. It feels like you have fewer days to work with. Here’s what I do: Look through past Closed-Won cases. Look at the titles/ICP that moved the needle. Build a list of that ICP. Put them into a call-only sequence for one day. This is why: Your talk track will be the exact same, every convo. The pains they’re familiar with, will likely be the same. You’ll also become familiar with talking with that ICP. Learn & mirror the language they use. I do this on days towards the end of the month. Get those dials lined up. P.S - How many times a week do you cold-call?
