Job Seekers, here are a couple of tips to set you up for success: 1️⃣ When checking your emails for responses from employers, don’t forget to check your spam folder as well. Unfortunately, many important emails from recruiters can land there. 2️⃣ Before sending an InMail to a recruiter, review the company's careers page to see if there are roles that match your experience. If so, apply on the site first, and then follow up with an InMail, referencing the specific role. Recruiters are much more likely to engage when you show intent and alignment with a particular position. Avoid sending broad messages like "I'm looking for work" even if attaching your resume and not specifying the type of job you're seeking. Be intentional in your search, and recruiters will notice! 25 new requisitions all in 1 day? 🤯 Yep, that was my Monday. 🤷‍♀️ If you’re in #recruitment or #talentaquisition, you may have experienced that "OMG how will I have time?!" feeling. 😅 When I first started my recruiting career 6 years ago in a high volume staffing firm, sometimes that high pressure made me want to run for the hills🏃🏻‍♀️(not literally, but maybe to the stairwell for a quick panic moment). 🫣 But I quickly learned that with a strong recruitment strategy, it doesn’t have to feel impossible. You can even keep your sanity intact all while maintaining a work-life balance. Here are a few tips and tricks I’ve incorporated into my strategy that have helped me keep my #confidence and stay on track: 🌟 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: This is your gateway to find the right talent. If it's not engaging, who will take it seriously? Highlight the day-to-day tasks, what they’ll gain, key benefits, and more. 🤖 𝐀𝐈 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬: Leverage AI-powered sourcing tools like HireEZ and SeekOut to efficiently identify and receive alerts about available talent globally. 🎥 𝐎𝐧-𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: HireVue has been a game-changer for streamlining screening and evaluation processes, but this does NOT replace the candidate experience. Train your managers to use it effectively for easy collaboration. 💬 𝐀𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Lean on tools like Slack, Zoom, Loom, or Microsoft Teams to facilitate flexible communication between team members and managers. 🏆 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: Give an authentic glimpse of your company culture by sharing employee testimonials, video job descriptions, day-in-the-life videos, etc. 📈 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚-𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Share talent market data from LinkedIn Talent Insights and TalentNeuron to influence hiring decisions and educate managers on the competition and how to remain competitive. 🌟𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬: Highlight relevant benefits that matter to your candidates, such as remote work options, flexible schedules, or wellness programs. 🤝 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: Ensure every candidate feels valued with timely updates, personalized communication, and feedback. And yes, even no update is STILL an update. To me, a strong recruitment strategy is all about adaptability, having an open mind, and being able to pivot. Since I started 6 years ago, my process has evolved annually to help me stay current with #industrytrends and #bestpractices. #tiptuesday Recruiters like me see hundreds of resumes each and every week (maybe even more!!) We don't have time to read every single word on your resume, in fact most recruiters spend less that 30 seconds reviewing a resume. How can you be sure we notice your resume and don't add it to the reject pile? 1. Use an easy to read format with a standard font and margin size. 2. Submit a Targeted resume. Prioritize the skills, qualifications and experiences that are directly applicable to the job you are trying to land. For example, don't list every software or program you've ever worked on, list the ones that are relevant to the job your are applying for. 3. Keep your resume short and direct. I don't need your full work history. 2 pages, MAX! 4. Highlight your hands on skills and accomplishments using quantifiable metrics. Are you an awesome sales person? Show me the metrics! 5. Keep your contact information updated and always include your LinkedIn account. There are so many more great tips out there, but these are a few that I wanted to highlight. Know Your Numbers! 💟 What I’m going to share below is based on how we work here at C/P! I can’t speak for other agencies/recruiters, so don’t jump me in the comments. I say this to candidates I work with: understanding what you need from a comp perspective (I’ll focus on base here) is important. Before we jump in, things I hold myself accountable for/ my commitments: - Always including salary range in every post I make - Sharing salary ranges during the first call/screening call - Checking in after the later rounds to discuss comp/realign - Being honest around flexibility or lack of! When I’m on calls and ask candidates where they want to land after I share the salary range, I can often hear them improvising #s. The truth is, we don’t need/want to know your current salary, but we do need to know what you want/what's your desired comp. It’s also important to note the difference between joining an early stage company and a later stage company. The base salaries + total comp can be very different. Of course, so much goes into comp outside of the base— equity, bonuses, and other benefits and perks— but start playing around with and thinking about numbers starting with your base. We have seen people get real creative around total comp so having at least your minimum, ideal, and sign-on spot numbers in your head already will make things so much easier. You are less likely to be disappointed if you approach convos with agents at C/P (I can’t speak for other agencies/recruiters) with a clear, realistic understanding of your expectations. We are transparent about salary ranges on all of our screening calls. We'll work ✨ for✨ and ✨with✨ you to make sure the offer you receive is one you are excited about!

The Indeed team onsite in Austin did a wonder job of reviewing resumes with jobseekers today. Here are a few quick tips that I hope will help you land the role of your dreams: 1️⃣ Tailor It to the Role - Customize your resume for each job by emphasizing skills, experiences, and keywords from the job description. This helps your resume stand out to both recruiters and applicant tracking systems (ATS). 2️⃣ Quantify Your Achievements - Replace vague statements with metrics. For example, instead of saying, "Improved sales performance," say, "Increased sales revenue by 20% in Q3." Numbers demonstrate impact and credibility. 3️⃣ Keep It Clean and Concise - Use a professional layout with clear headings and bullet points. Stick to 1-2 pages and focus on relevant experience. Avoid dense text—make it easy for recruiters to scan.

JOB SEARCH HACK TO BE IN THE TOP 10-20% OF APPLICANTS! Y'all what if I told you there was a cheat code to being in the top percentage of applicants for a job? Might want to sit down for this one. Apply to roles you are 100%+ qualified for. Yes. 100% PLUS. Let me explain - in particular for OFCCP compliant companies, those Basic Qualifications are NOT NEGOTIABLE. You MUST meet 100% of them. MOST companies want folks who meet as much as possible and ideally are separating the must haves from the nice to haves. I'm still shooting for as many as possible AND certainly the ones that are measurable, role related, and realistic. Yes, companies have a responsibility to write realistic job descriptions (I address this in the video below). "But Ames, I've applied to roles I met all the qualifications for and didn't even get an interview!" I believe you. And I feel your frustration. It's not unheard of for me to present 10 well qualified (yes, 100%+) candidates to my hiring teams, but they have to make tough calls on where to spend their time. They may only be able to interview the top 5. So sadly, ESPECIALLY in this market, it's not unheard of for WELL QUALIFIED CANDIDATES to not get an interview. Every recruiter I know has confirmed over and over when it comes to direct applicants, we see roughly 10-20% (MAYBE 25%) of them are actually a fit. I get it. We're frustrated, tired, scared, and just trying to land a damn job in this dumpster fire of an economy. Y'all mean to tell me the "solution" is to apply to roles you're NOT qualified for? Because some ding dong claims you'll be BORED? On my life anyone who says that with a straight face is either confused or selling you something. I guarantee it. I've been tracking this data for YEARS. As an actual working recruiter I have the data to back up everything I advise y'all to do - for free. DATA DON'T LIE You are entitled to follow whatever thought leaders float your boat and spend your hard earned money however you like. Falling into the dopamine trap set by folks cosplaying as serious career coaches is not how I prefer to spend MY time. But to each their own. I am well aware that folks are going to argue with me in the comments. Your personal lived experience is your own. Good for you if you're one of the few exceptions. Argue with your ego, not with me. As a recruiter, I’m committed to helping my candidates succeed. When a candidate is selected for a phone screening, I always call to introduce myself and confirm their interest in the role. I follow up by sending an email with my calendar link so they can choose a time that works best for them. This gives them the chance to research the company, review the job description, and prepare thoughtful questions for our conversation. Although it's surprising how often candidates come unprepared, even with this opportunity, my goal is to set you up for success—preparation is everything! If you're hiring for the same role in multiple territories, consider this... The average market salary varies by geography even within the same state. And so does the size of the candidate pool. You can have an opening in Dallas with a larger candidate pool and a lower market salary than Austin, with a tighter candidate pool but higher average salaries. Each territory requires its own strategy. Standardized comp packages might fill some roles quickly while others drag on for months. Success requires understanding what you're working with in each individual market. It's the only way to develop an effective search strategy and market your position appropriately for that geography. Smart hiring isn't about consistency across markets. It's about being competitive within each market.
