🥳🥳 ❤️🖤💚💛SENIOR LEADERSHIP CAREER SEARCH UPDATE: I AM MN TOP BLACK TALENT, AM PAUSING MY SEARCH FOR THE SUMMER & #openforwork to lead professional development trainings! 💜 Professionally I am grateful for my Black Girl Sabbatical social entrepreneurship business & those who have hired me in Q1, Q2 & into Q3 to keep me afloat financially & pay my $1,540 mortgage & bills as I searched for my next senior leadership career opportunity! 💜 I have vetted over 100+ positions that came my way & ONLY APPLIED FOR 2 OPPORTUNITIES that were in 100 alignment with my passions, purpose, skills, my leadership contributions to an organization in this season & more! 💜 I was selected to interview for a VP role back in philanthropy & made it to the 1st of 2 rounds of interviews. You will read more about that experience in a future post! What I will say for now is that the organization chose an internal white male candidate to hit the ground running. The organization could have just promoted within instead of posting a position & waisting 5 external candidates valuable time. 💜I thank the recruiting firm Ballinger | Leafblad, Inc. Marcia Ballinger, PhD, Lars Leafblad, Damon Shoholm & foundation staff for selecting me as an candidate to interview & the firm for taking in my feedback from my recruitment experience. 💜 I was selected to interview for an Executive Director position in MN to complete 1 of 4 interviews. Immediately during & after the interview I just felt off. The day started with a headache that transitioned into a full blown migraine. I completed my 1st interview EVER with a migraine, lights off & sunglasses on. 😮 😮 GO WITH YOUR GUT & LISTEN TO YOUR BODIES BLACK WOMEN! IT WAS TELLING ME THAT THIS AINT IT. 😮😮 💜 I slept on the decision to rescind my application & to no longer be considered for the position before the recruiter & board had their debrief so that they could decide from the remaining 4 candidates who should go on to round 2. You will read more about this experience in a future post! 💜 I thank the recruiting firm kpCompanies, Joelle Allen, MBA, Miquel Purvis McMoore & nonprofit board members for selecting me as a candidate to interview & the firm for taking in my immediate feedback of my interview experience. 💜 For the summer months ☀️ I am looking forward to spending qt at beaches & water parks with my girls, enjoying the patio season, reconnecting with friends & family, upcoming travel & of course dating cuz I am single & ready to mingle lol! 💜 I AM #OPENTOWORK TO LEAD PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAININGS & KEYNOTE EXPERIENCES IN PERSON & VIRTUALLY IN JUNE & JULY & ONLY AVAILABLE VIRTUALLY IN AUGUST....SO REACH OUT TO HIRE ME SO I CAN PAY MY MORTAGE. 💜🥳❤️ I close with another public thank you & gratitude post to the valued members of "TEAM TOSHA" who have really been positive cheerleaders through my journey. I will never grow tired of expressing the importance of giving yourself permission to Just Start & Get Visible. I’m officially wrapping up a week of a media blitz talking all about etiquette and leadership on behalf of Detroit Regional Dollars for Scholars and the important work that they do! All of this is possible purely from making one decision to START a business called Scarlet that had an origin focus of teaching etiquette to teen girls in the city of Detroit. Now, more than a decade later with partnerships across multiple industries and a refined focus of helping leaders become better leaders, I’m reminded of what’s possible when you stop waiting and wishing and start taking action! So, here I am again - reminding you to Just Start the things you want to do. … and to be clear… I’m talking to you if you are a corporate employee and you want to start getting more invisible at your job so you can take advantage of career elevation opportunities. I’m talking to you if you have entrepreneurial interest and you wanna explore starting a venture. I’m talking to you if you know you have expertise to share, but you’re hiding… It doesn’t matter if you’re 17 or 77. If you’re looking for a sign or the perfect time to get started, this is it! Mental health programs only serve as a bandage if the cause of employees’ distress is issues within their workplace. If employers have programs, but the workplace is toxic, and employees work 80 hours a week for an irate, intense, disrespectful boss, that’s a bigger issue. The resources and systems in place are only effective when there’s a healthy work environment as a backbone—a strong, positive, solid foundation to support them. In the business sector, of course we are happy when white women, who demonstrate Excellence ascend to C-Suite positions. Yet what about us? I’ve worked with many leaders throughout my career. Some good and some bad. Overall, I’ve learned that there are many things that set these leaders apart. One is their strength and resiliency for lifting others up. I don't have anything to do with it... nevertheless, I'm excited about the Young Professionals Program scheduled for 9/30 as a part of the NetDiligence®Conference. To show my excitement, I’ll be posting some short ‘lessons’ for “young professionals” each day. Today’s lesson: When reading an insurance policy always start with the policy's insuring agreement. If a loss isn't covered by the terms of the insuring agreement, then the loss isn't covered. Don't fall into the trap of overlooking the insuring agreement and presuming coverage because a policy exclusion doesn't apply. Read the policy in order: Insuring Agreement(s), Exclusions and Conditions. That might sound basic. Yet, I see folks make this mistake every day. I might even have made this mistake once or twice myself! 😆 #netDiligence #CyberInsurance

Hi. My name is LaTonya Renee, and I am a F.A.C.E. - Female African American Christian Entrepreneur. I'm giving you 3 tips to start a business. First one, sis, you gotta know you're not better than anybody else, and ain't nobody better than you.Period! If you believe you can start a business, and you want to, you can. That's it. Tip number 2. Please know that your business have to align with your purpose. What are your skill sets? Why do people call you? What do you love doing? That is the business you should be in. Do not just start a business for the sake of making money. Been there, done that, failed. Okay? If it's not what you're passionate about, don't do it. Tip number 3, and this is the most important one, I believe. Well, no. That's not true. They all important. Tip number 3. Make sure you know how much money you wanna make, because that's how you're gonna outline your business to meet your goals. Start from where you want to go. And if you're a fellow F.A.C.E., drop that in the comments. I want to meet you. 🥰

How dare you do this to an employee. You have a ytness problem in your organization, and it sounds like its pushing out talented Black folks in droves. Moira Weir - As the President & CEO, what are you doing about this? It's not good for the employees you've harmed, and it certainly can't be good for the organization or its mission. Operating like this is an incredible risk. As someone who was a for-profit CEO and now works with non-profit CEOs and C-suites as an executive coach, I can tell you that this behavior is FAR too common in non-profit spaces. Most are run by toxic yt people who hide behind the veneer of doing good while doubling down on the culture of yt supremacy and harm that got them to the top. You forced a talented manager to resign because of meeting space utilization accusation and tone? What an incredible waste! And to the United Way of Greater Cincinnati Board, what are YOU doing about. this? It sounds like you have a governance problem. Tagging you here so you can engage with your CEO and address it with a formal investigation into Andraya Mays, MPA-SJ resignation and the others she references in her original post.
