One of my favorite topics discussed in this episode was how much I enjoy reverting to traditional marketing, such as direct mail and print ads in B2B. WOW!!!! Last Friday almost 100 years of enterprise storage experience sat down to lunch in London to talk about the past, the present, and the future of storage. I had the privilege of breaking bread with long time storage industry icons Chris Mellor, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of BLOCKS & FILES, and Chris Evans, Founder and Principal Analyst of ArchitectingIT. For this no holds barred 2 hour lunch we made sure to sweep the restaurant for electronic bugs, just like James Bond does in all his movies. It was an incredibly animated non-stop discussion about 7500, 10,000, 15,000 RPM HDDs and who could forget the Seagate 2-header parallel Barracuda, the rise of all flash arrays, the epic battle of Fibre Channel versus SSA, multiple storage acquisitions, multiple storage IPOs, ILM, HSM, automated tiering, modern data protection, the integration of cyber security with storage solutions, who are the real market leaders in the various storage segments, how will the dramatic changes in the server interstitchal (ok, that isn't a real word but you know what I mean) layers impact the future of storage, the incredible number of tape formats over the years, the impact of hybrid multi-cloud on the storage landscape, the world of backup and archiving, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera!! A great time was had by all and we did promise not to leak one iota of this wildly entertaining and far reaching discussion 😂 😅 😎 🤣 😉

Hey sales leaders! Your 2025 plan will require unreasonable efficiency.[1] And there's no better place than #GTM2024 next week in Austin to figure out how to make this happen. There's a tremendous lineup of speakers and events—all for GTM leaders to share what's working, what's not and what to do from here. I can't wait to learn from everyone else. And on Wednesday (10/16), I get to share some things I've learned about—you guessed it—unreasonable efficiency. We all hope AI is going to make us more efficient. It will! But not if you apply it to the wrong place. Efficiency means finding and eliminating the major constraint—the bottleneck—in your system. Repeatedly. If you don’t tackle the bottleneck, nothing else makes a difference. Intuitively, we think rep time is the bottleneck. After all, if we just made prospect comms more efficient we could talk to more prospects. So, we’re using AI copilots and AI email personalization and entire AI SDRs. What’s more efficient than sending a million “personalized” emails with AI? A whole lot, actually… I’ll show that the *actual* bottleneck for most organizations is account targeting. If you’re working the wrong accounts, no amount of activity increase will improve your results. (Warning: there will be some math!) And that’s where you should apply AI and use processes like dynamic books that maximize its capabilities. Can’t wait to share more about how to do this! See you next week.
