Crazy? You bet! Welcome to the status of the insurance industry in California today!  I have never seen anything like this in over 30 years!! ❌ No one's saying the insurance situation in California is going to get better any time soon (and FYI - the situation is not isolated to California OR only to Homeowner policies). It's a shift we have to roll with, and only time will tell how this will pan out. We just don't know. ❄☀ There are too many factors at play to really wrap our heads around this…the influence of our elected officials, special interest groups, interest rates, climate change and the sheer size and strength of the insurance carriers all impact this situation. 🔥 Will we have a fire season this year in California after dodging that bullet in 2023? 💸 We are seeing BILLIONS of dollars in losses being reported by insurance carriers for their California operations each quarter, downgrading of the financial stability of a large homeowners insurance carrier and questions about the financial stability of the “insurer of last resort”, rapid inflation, very large increases in construction costs and the costs to repair vehicles, huge liability claim settlements... so many issues and no crystal ball. But here's what we do know. In terms of insuring your commercial building or home, as independent agents, we are fortunate to have insurance carriers who are still offering new policies. Yes, you will be paying more - a 20% increase or more will become the new norm, depending on the line of business and what you're looking for in limits and deductibles. ✔ These truly are unknown times in the world of insurance - the landscape is changing, but protecting your assets will always be critical and often, we can help you do so.
