How to Create a Full-Funnel Marketing Strategy. Here is the framework we use. 1. FULL-FUNNEL ANALYSIS. - Current revenue metrics across markets and verticals (optionally, clusters) and sales pipeline velocity - GTM challenges - Performance of different programs and motions 2. SEGMENTATION - Define target markets, segments and clusters aligned with our current goals. E.g. Need to accelerate revenue -> Focus on segments with shorter sales cycles. 3. KEY ACCOUNTS ANALYSIS AND CUSTOMER RESEARCH. Define the fastest and best deals from the selected and interview Champions about: - Buying trigger - Their buyer journey and vendor evaluation process, and what influences it - Internal decision-making - Jobs-to-be-done, KPIs and product value Then, - Define firmographics and technograhics patter 4. IDEAL CUSTOMER PROFILE. - Firmographics & technographics - Buying committee - Account qualification & disqualification criteria - Account segmentation 5. POSITIONING, VALUE PROP AND MESSAGING. - Aligned with typical challenges/needs - Differentiated - Clear 6. BUYER JOURNEY SCENARIOS. There is no similar buyer journey. It's not linear. Buyers can skip stages or repeat steps. We prefer to create several scenarios, including: - Awareness triggers: what content and programs might attract attention of our target buyers and associate our product with pre-existing challenges? - Buying triggers: what can trigger the buyer journey? What signals can alert us? - Channels: where can we engage with our target buyers? - Solution evaluation: How can we demonstrate that our solution is the best fit for the internal challenge? - Vendor evaluation: How can we prove our product is the best fit? 7. FULL-FUNNEL MARKETING PLAN: — Awareness and demand generation programs — Demand capturing — Buyer & sales enablement — Pipeline generation & acceleration with sales (think ABM) — Client Success — Expansion — Product marketing — Budgeting 8. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL TEAM SET UP. - Program/playbook ownership and responsibilities - Workflows and playbook development - Lead and pipeline stages definitions - Planning and review meetings - Stack ownership - Revenue Operations 9. REPORTING. - Integrated revenue report - Blended attribution (self-attribution + digital analytics + customer research) - Program reports 10. TEAM ALIGNMENT. --- There are 2 extreme B2B camps. One camp evangelizes the idea that marketing strategy is all about brand values, mission, voice of communication, etc. without answering the core question: HOW ARE WE GOING TO GROW? The second camp fiercly evangelizes one motion against others: product-led, sales-led, community-led, ABM-led, demand gen-led, whatever-led. I don't believe in siloed motions. Siloed motion influences only a tiny part of the buyer journey, but not the complete process. I believe in a holistic approach based on how B2B customers buy.

10 learnings making $2M in 8 months for an ecommerce client 👇 1. Start with the customer journey 🛣 The biggest leaks in the e-commerce funnel can be found by tracing the user journey: - How do users opt-in to your list? - How smooth is the add-to-cart? - How easy is it to checkout quickly? - Can they trust you for their first order? 2. Next, use the past data available 🔢 If it's an existing business, you can leverage their past data to make better decisions: - How were their conversion rates at each step of the process? (product to cart, cart to checkout, etc) - How well do they capture attention? (hook rates, CTRs) - How well do they convert non-purchasers? (opt-in CR%, exit intent conversions) - How well do they retain users? (repeat order rates, LTV) 3. Implement experiments and fixes for the worst-performing metrics ↘ These are your low-hanging fruits - Metrics performing below benchmarks: - Fix based on best practice first - Next, design A/B tests for further improvement - Next, use advanced experimentation for more optimization 4. Know the overall business goals 🥅 Once the hygiene is done, next comes understanding business goals: - The client will usually want to 'SCALING PROFITABLY' - For most stores, there is a safe scaling pace and a set of requirements to scale - These need to be defined clearly: number of creative, testing process, experimentation, additional cost of creative, additional cost of agency - Make sure the client is willing to take the short-term pain for long-term gain - Make sure they REALLY want to scale 5. Collecting data and improving results 📈 Once we're growing, we need to make sure we're growing in the right direction: - Split your ROAS analysis by channel to see what's more profitable - Put more of your money on winners (sounds basic but often gets missed) - winning creative, winning campaigns, winning channels, winning products. - Continue optimizing and testing Finally, keep experimenting to optimize results.
