The program reflects current research of managerial competencies as well as graduate business standards as reflected by existing national standardized graduate business tests.

In addition to the University learning goals, the MBA program prepared me to do the following:

    • Recognize and solve problems systematically to make better business decisions
    • Develop and motivate personnel to meet changing organizational needs
    • Leverage technology in a global environment to create sustainable competitive advantage
    • Evaluate risks and develop plans to lessen or eliminate their impact

Frontline managers have a challenging role as they are asked to deliver on expectations that have been established by others above them to a range of individuals below them. Bridging this gap between corporate expectations and delivered results requires a special skill set to establish effective partnerships with individuals who are at varying stages of professional and personal development.

Our Situational Frontline Leadership program is based on our highly successful Situational Leadership Model and shows frontline managers how to diagnose individual situations and employ core communication skills to partner for performance. This two-day or three-day program is based on new approaches to adult learning theory and teaches frontline managers how to provide clear and specific direction, actively listen, offer feedback, and how to enhance self-esteem of team members.

On or about August 2010, I volunteered to serve as a laborer helping to build a house in Indianapolis, IN for a family in need. The experience was rewarding to me as much as it was to the family who would live in the home. I view this and other opportunities to serve as a way of giving back to my community.

Participated with thousands of volunteers for Chicago Cares annual Serve-a-Thon. This year my role was building book shelves for an elementary school that was drastically impacted by budget cuts. By building these shelves on a volunteer basis, limited financial resources could be re-allocated to educational needs in the classroom.

As the leader of the First Impressions team at Genesis Church, I was responsible, at a high-level, for ensuring that every individual that walked through our doors was greeted with a friendly and helpful volunteer. The mission of Genesis Church is helping people find their way back to God. It's difficult to do that if their first impression is a poor one. More specifically, I had the distinct pleasure of leading a 100% volunteer group of 30 at its lowest point and more than 60 at its peak. During my service period, our church launched a second campus in Carmel, Indiana. This meant that nearly half of my team would go to the new campus to start a sister First Impressions team. This change, while positive in every way, required creativity, collaboration, and good old fashion hard work to ensure our level of service to church goers did not suffer. Working with my team leads and church leadership we initiated a comprehensive recruiting campaign to attract new volunteers and grow our numbers. We also reconfigured the auditorium set-up to cover more space with less people while taking up the daily offering. We made adjustments to staffing levels at each entrance and through all of this, performed our service duty to make Genesis a warm and welcoming environment for everyone. This was a growth experience for me spiritually, personally, and professionally. I learned what it takes to truly lead people. For the first time in my life, I was in a leadership role that offered me no financial incentive. Still more the people whom I was responsible for had no financial motivation either. Our goal was clear, our focus was direct, our purpose was simple…serve!
