Very informative event at Nasdaq today discussing the results from its 2024 Governance Pulse Survey. Interesting panels on board composition and culture, board succession planning and board assessments, CEO evaluations, management succession planning, and board-management relations. Some especially candid (and welcome) insights from my old friend Evan Epstein about the board evaluation landscape and how check the box it’s become. Also interesting to see that the focus on Environment, sustainability, and climate matters has rapidly slipped down the board's priority list. When asked what the top areas that will impact an organization's success in the next 12 months, only 10% responded that it was a priority. Whereas 25% responded that emerging legal and regulatory requirements were a priority (which is great news for an Ethics and Compliance company like LRN!).
