I'm reading an excellent book called "The Boutique" all about scaling services firms, by Greg Alexander from Collective 54. I highly recommend it for anyone who runs a Professional Services firm. I came across this chapter in the book: "Implement a win loss program. This program will deconstruct why you win and lose new clients. It is from the perspective of the prospect. It typically takes place once per quarter and is outsourced. A group of recent campaigns are batched up. An objective third party calls the the prospects and asks probing questions. The results are aggregated and tabulated. Over time, the boutique can benchmark themselves and spot trends. Very often the losses reveal holes in the services offering." This validates exactly what we at IcebergIQ do, mostly working with software companies. Our interviews capture a large amount of services feedback, from how they are sold to discovery, onboarding to integrations, customer success, customizations, etc. I'd love to hear from any services companies out there who have used this type of service or are interested in how we run these programs for software companies which would be so easily adaptable for a services firm. Are you interested in doing government IT projects? Salesforce implementations, LLM installs, we would focus heavy on CRM and AI related projects. I know exactly how to get these types of contracts. It takes time, and it takes a team. We would be guaranteed to get contracts and very easy money, given enough time. That timescale being six months to one year. This does not pay out overnight, but once it starts paying out, it doesn't stop. I need anyone interested in proposal writing, preferably with experience but I can offer some training. It's tedious, you cannot automate it, most of your proposals will get rejected and you will never be told why. I can guide you as to exactly what needs to be done with the proposal process, and I can build and lead the technical teams to actually do the work as the contracts come in. The hardest part is literally filling out the RFI's and RFP's. I don't want to touch that part, that is where you come in. It is impossible to lose at this venture, it just takes a long time and perseverance. Think of it like investing in government bonds. Stable and consistent returns, just requires being patient. This would be a 'side hustle' for the entire team for the first six months to a year. If you're the type of person this interests, and you are willing to put in the work and wait for the payoff, I promise you there is no easier long term money than this avenue.
