We’re excited to share we’ve raised $5m led by Index Ventures with participation from Origin Ventures, Chingona Ventures, Divergent Capital, and an inspiring group of angel investors. Two years ago, Justin, Brian, and I got together and started brainstorming. We had worked together as early executives at Trello for 7.5 years! We wanted to recreate the magic of the early days of Trello and respond to the epidemic of distraction we were seeing in the workplace. When I left Atlassian, I was in back-to-back meetings most days. Slack was constantly buzzing. My whole day was spent going between apps and praying I wouldn’t miss something important. I would wake up in the middle of the night remembering that DM I forgot to respond to. In an age of AI, this kind of mental fatigue across tools drains humans of our energy to do the work that really matters: the focused and creative work that comes when we can feel secure that we’re on top of all important work. Hoop is the product I wish I had. It connects to Zoom, Google Meet, Slack and email and automatically captures tasks for me using AI. It then centralizes everything in one spot so I never miss a task. Our vision is to rethink task management with an AI first principles mindset. There’s so much we can do now that we couldn’t have imagined back when we were building Trello. Community has been a massive influence on my life this past decade. I have travelled around the world with 75 digital nomads w/ Remote Year Seen 30 founders test out their Ideas w/ Founder Institute Engaged with 100s of startups launching w/ Start-Up Chile Created a product company that had a community of 200k at its peak I owe so much of what and who I am to these experiences They have molded me into the person I am today All the things that I've learned have lead me to what I am doing now Its time I started giving back Last year I had to start from nothing Some would find it a dreadful situation to be in It wasn't. It's only when you have nothing, that you're free to do anything. That is a super power So many people are addicted to their salary Their freedom tied to the dreams and benefit of others I could have done the same I didnt I wouldnt Not this time I had spent the last 5 years testing what I was capable of That experience didnt end the way I wanted it to. I was toxically attached to its success I knew that the people I was doing it with were not capable of seeing that end with me It was the right thing to do When I came home I refocused my energy's into this I am obsessed This is something that allows me to spread my chips across the table And to work with amazing people who want to see that same freedom To see something bigger than themselves to an end that only Community can bring. A lot of investors have been asking me what the major industries are in the Venture Miami Built in Miami Startup Program. Here's the industry breakdown across 214 new South Florida startups. TLDR: The South Florida startups are pretty diverse across industries. Here's the largest categories in order: - 16.2% AI & Machine Learning - 14.2% EdTech - 12.2% Healthcare - 8.5% Marketing & Sales Tech - 8.1% FinTech - 7.4% Sustainability - 6.1% Travel & Hospitality - 6.1% E-Commerce The smallest category: Cybersecurity at 1.2% There's an additional 50 startups that didn't complete the survey in time but we'll get that info updated by Demo Day June 20th. #BuiltinMiami

YC often says to do things that don’t scale. But what truly doesn’t scale is finding, attracting, and retaining talented people. The best innovations come from passionate, skilled individuals with a track record of success. The main challenge for any entrepreneur is constantly seeking out these talents and engaging them to join your team. This is a background task that I always keep in mind. One of a founder’s key responsibilities is to create opportunities to meet such people and think strategically about creating the ideal conditions for them to thrive.
