    Looking into the core of the book, two themes stand out prominently. Firstly, the book tackles the operational side of sustainability in project management. Unfortunately, many businesses fail to meet their business goals as the result of unsuccessful information systems projects (English, 2008; Gable et al., 2008). The quantitative correlational research study examined the relationship between project management processes and information systems…

    The successful development of information systems is not only vital for organizations to succeed, but for gaining a competitive advantage as well (Asllani & Ettkin, 2007; Boonzaaier & Loggerenberg, 2006). Unfortunately, many businesses fail to meet their business goals as the result of unsuccessful information systems projects (English, 2008; Gable et al., 2008). The quantitative correlational research study examined the relationship between project management processes and information systems project performance. A sample of 181 information systems project professionals were surveyed about the project management practices used. Pearson correlation analysis found significant relationship between project management processes and information systems project. Results from ANOVA analysis reflected no significant relationship among systems development methodology, project management office, maturity level, and project management competency and project performance. Business leaders can use these results to improve project management processes and increase the likelihood of success in their information systems initiatives.
