NatureMed Integrative Medicine has a proven track record.  Founded in 2005 by the husband-and-wife team Kelly and Steve Parcell, our practice is grown every year except for a few years during COVID.  Revenues are projected at 1.3 million for 2024.  We have been in one location, 5330 Manhattan Cir., Boulder, CO, and own the office space.  Buying the real estate as part of the deal is an option.  We have an excellent reputation in the community and among other medical providers.  Our values have included putting the patient first, charging reasonable fees, providing outstanding care, treating everyone with respect, including employees and building bridges in the community with other health care providers.  The best patient outcomes have always been the primary goal at NatureMed. Developing smooth office administration procedures and a good referral base can take years.  This is why so many doctors never go out on their own.  It is too daunting.  NatureMed has almost 20 years of continuously refined internal efficiency systems and office policies.  It is a well-oiled machine.  We have a high-ranking website and social media presence.  It takes between 3 and 4 years to start becoming profitable, and during this time, there needs to be working capital to pay the staff and other expenses when revenues do not match up.  You will find many well-intentioned health practitioners have given up after three or four years because of marketing takes too much time, and they need to make more money to make it worth it.  We have a proven track record and about 6000 patient charts.  The Opportunity  and The Patient Base Boulder is becoming more affluent, which is helpful because NatureMed is a cash-based practice.  Visits are all out-of-pocket, and so are most products and services.  As the baby boomers age and retire, they become more interested in improving their health span and longevity.  Competitive Advantage We have a competitive edge because of our integrated medical model. Naturopathic doctors work alongside and co-manage patients with a medical doctor. Moral injury in medicine: Why doctors are burning out Today's practicing physicians find themselves grappling with burnout. Witnessing how our cherished medical community has succumbed to moral injury and compromised its values is disheartening and confounding. This troubling phenomenon appears intrinsically tied to the shifting landscape of employment within our profession, where the erosion of autonomy has become increasingly evident. This issue transcends mere statistics, speaking to a deeper systemic imbalance. At its core lies a troubling power dynamic, with employers assuming disproportionate control over the practice of medicine. This encroachment on our autonomy undermines the very essence of our profession, leaving us grappling with diminished agency and a sense of disempowerment. Acupuncture is a feasible intervention to reduce threatened miscarriage symptoms. In this study, https://lnkd.in/gEwf_x-a forty women were successfully randomized and for those receiving acupuncture there was a statistically significant reduction with threatened miscarriage symptoms including bleeding, cramping and back pain compared with the control (p = 0.04). A big thank you to the author, researcher, my esteemed mentor and colleague Debra Betts, PhD. Further research is required to further explore acupuncture use for this common complication and whether it can reduce the incidence of miscarriage.

Do you suffer from TWITCHING of eyelids or facial (cheek) muscles? What should you do? Twitching of eyelids is a common problem. If it is temporary, you need not worry. It can resolve with good sleep and stress management. However, if the twitching of eyelids continues for days, weeks or months, you could be suffering from blepharospasm. If in addition, the muscles over face (cheek) also twitch, it is called hemifacial spasm. If you notice these symptoms, consult a neurologist. In most cases, you would get better with medications or Botox injections.

Serotonin, a neurotransmitter essential for mood regulation, is also crucial for digestive functions, with about 95% produced in the gut. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), affecting the large intestine, has symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation. The enteric nervous system in the gut, which can operate independently of the brain, plays a significant role in this condition. Stress and anxiety can trigger IBS flare-ups, highlighting the brain-stomach connection. Serotonin affects gut motility, fluid secretion, and sensitivity. Low serotonin levels are linked to IBS-related constipation, while high levels are associated with diarrhea. Serotonin imbalances in IBS can also influence conditions like fibromyalgia, depression, and anxiety. Current treatments include selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), though research is ongoing for targeted therapies. I was honored to read an early copy and endorse David’s book, Caring for Self & Others: Transforming Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, and Soul Loss: As physicians, we may not always acknowledge that we each have a soul. However, we are in a sacred profession that truly holds the soul of our patients. Whatever we call it, there is a place deep within us—almost the elephant in the room—that is our compass guiding us, our North Star. Oftentimes we get lost because we don’t care for our internal compass. That is the essence of what’s lost in healthcare today.
