The rapidly declining trust in the media has to change. Americans need facts, and an ability to trust in factual reporting so that they may form their own opinions. Otherwise, opinions are being misconstrued as facts as they are today. The size of the market to spew opinions, mis/dis-information and ads at us is staggeringly huge. The size of market to ensure we get facts and eliminate fraud is staggeringly miniscule.

Looking bottom-up at the boards of real-world companies, rather than top-down based on legal or policy norms, reveals a wide range of options. As the DOW Jones closed above 40,000 for the first time in its history, Olaolu Aganga recently joined the team on CNBC’s Closing Bell to discuss our playbook in alternatives and current strategic and tactical asset allocation views. Through what many have described as a “supercycle” election year, we see large asset owners seeking out stability in longer-term allocations to alternatives – including private credit and private equity. Typically marked to market at a slower rate, exposure to alternatives can provide important stability through more volatile periods. Balancing strategic and tactical decision making across portfolios is all about assessing risk and return relative to time horizon. Strategically, we’ve been neutral on Europe for some time, but tactically, we’ve been looking internationally to capture opportunities across emerging markets, most recently in China where we see valuation distortion. "For 50 years people were invested in daily liquid stock index funds for the most part. why? Well, we go back and think about the origins of our financial system, stocks and bonds were the two tools used to build portfolios. Stocks were fully diversified.... Same with bonds. Now you look forward and now we have 80% of companies who are over $100M in revenue in the US and Europe are private and not public. Why would you exclude yourself from that much of the marketplace? " "We are revisiting the whole notion of what it means to be public and what it means to be private. Is public safe and is private risky? Or are both safe and risky but offer different degrees of liquidity" Apollo Global Management, Inc. CEO Marc Rowan hits the spot here. I would go a step further. In Southeast Asia, and specifically the Philippines, you find small businesses with strong fundamentals addressing large markets, and often ignored by both private equity (big ticket/later stage/medium horizon) and early stage investors (small ticket/tech/short horizon), which is a big opportunity for those with smaller checks and who are less concerned with liquidity. In other words, those who have a longer horizon and who focus on fundamentals. On top of that, there are less players chasing them. #privateequity #southeastasia #Philippines #privatecapital

Always appreciate the opportunity to appear on @SquawkBox and discuss the elections and their impact on the markets and policy making in Washington. This year's election is presenting voters across the country with a profound choice: either we believe in free markets, or we believe that Washington is better at allocating capital, determining supply and demand, and setting prices. Proposals by Kamala Harris to raise tax rates, and to impose price controls are throwbacks to the failed policies of the early 1970s. Americans have seen that lower taxes and less regulation allow the private sector to create jobs, wealth, and opportunity. A vibrant free market provides the key to competitive and profitable American businesses and workers. After Harris' speech on the economy last week in North Carolina, the Trump campaign can now draw a real contrast over the approach to what will be the most important issue this election - the economy.
