There, Harry Bailey—born into a family trapped at the bottom of a rigid class system and caught in a multi-generational cycle of poverty—overcomes many hardships and finds the friendship, mentoring, love, and support he needs to let his greatest dreams take flight.

Writing this book took me down a coal mine, up church bell towers, into fragile documents in county archives, and into the homes of the retired coal miners and steelworkers who were my father's childhood friends and neighbors.
