There continues to be challenges on the battle fronts of community-based pharmacies. On the heels of the DIR cliff and now newly applied PBM true ups from claims three years ago, a "new program" that continues the opaqueness, convoluted, and complicated system of health plans and their pharmacy benefits has been initiated. This integrated pharmacy benefit with a national drug discount card company and its' additional fees may be the final death knell for many community-based pharmacies leading to more closures and pharmacy deserts. https://lnkd.in/gnRj3pXq

The American health care system is broken. Recently, I read an article that said our #healthcaresystem is broken. As I read, I realized there will always be issues, however, fixing this issue is possible. And achieving better #healthoutcomes maybe the greatest unifying opportunity of our time. We’ve spent years trying to accelerate clinical trial recruitment. Will generative AI help us finally solve this challenge? Researchers at Mass General Brigham used gen AI to quickly review patient notes in electronic medical records to identify heart failure patients who qualified for a clinical trial on virtual care and medication adherence. They found that AI tools like ChatGPT are nearly as accurate at choosing patients as expert clinicians.  It’s exciting to think about how AI can accelerate the process of screening patients for trials, but we must be mindful of the obstacles and risks.
