🌟 Happy Black Women in Sports Day! 🌟 Today, we celebrate the incredible contributions of Black women in the world of sports. From athletes and coaches to entrepreneurs and innovators, Black women are making significant strides and breaking barriers every day. As a proud co-founder of ExSATA, sports tech agency, alongside my sister Mikekena B. Richardson I'm thrilled to share our journey in the sports tech industry. We’ve developed a patent-pending software that analyzes athletes from video footage, revolutionizing how performance is evaluated and improving athlete-to-organization matching methodologies. Yet, despite these odds, we continue to push forward and innovate. Moreover, Black women own just 1% of all sports businesses in the U.S., making our presence and contributions even more significant. Repost @jamilahodge: There is another way to do executive transitions, a way that doesn’t put undue burden on Black leaders to justify their existence or prove their worth and capability to funders. Throwback Thursday: Reflecting on the Legacy of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 As we reflect on pivotal moments in DEI history, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 stands as a monumental turning point. This landmark legislation, signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson, was a major victory in the fight against racial segregation and discrimination. It not only prohibited discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin but also laid the groundwork for many of the diversity and inclusion efforts we see today. Over the past 60 years, the impact of this Act has rippled through workplaces, schools, and public spaces, challenging systemic inequities and inspiring subsequent policies aimed at creating a more inclusive society. However, while the Act was a significant step forward, the journey toward true equity is ongoing. Today, as DEI practitioners, it’s essential to honor this legacy by continuing to advocate for policies and practices that promote fairness, respect, and opportunity for all. We must not forget the struggles and sacrifices that led to this progress and use them as a foundation to build a future where diversity is truly embraced and equity is realized. Did you know we’re living in the Decade of Black Innovation? For the past few years, I’ve been a proud member of Black Innovation Alliance, an organization at the forefront of building the equitable economy we all deserve. As a member, I’ve had so many incredible opportunities to develop as a business leader, ecosystem builder, and innovator.
