We recently wrapped Vista’s 2024 Annual General Meeting, where we had a chance to bring hundreds of our investors together and reflect on the past year as well as the magnitude of the opportunity ahead in enterprise software.    Last year was a remarkable year for Vista. We eclipsed $100 billion in assets under management (AUM) and returned more than $9.3 billion to our investors in a climate that saw exit activity drop to its lowest levels since the financial crisis (as of 12.31.2023).   We also continued to judiciously put capital to work to grow our ecosystem, completing seven platform investments and 10 add-on acquisitions. Today, Vista’s ecosystem comprises more than 85 portfolio companies, with a workforce of nearly 100,000 employees doing business in more than 180 countries around the world. Additionally, our differentiated private credit platform – Vista Credit Partners – experienced record deployment into what we believe is one of the most attractive private lending environments in decades.    While I’m proud of our growth, I’m equally proud of how we got here. I think the most interesting data companies are super niche verticals. Go deep vertically before you go horizontal. Something random like- Rubber pricing and demand. Insights on the automotive industry have always been in high demand. Deep insights into the storage facility space. A market that has publicly traded companies or a futures contract is where I see the biggest upside. What are some of your favorite companies with deep sector or industry specific datasets. I think J.D. Power is interesting. Aggregate Intelligence, Inc. is another one with a bunch of super specific industry datasets.

We are seeing a tremendous amount of dialogue around replacing SaaS solutions with AI. Elementum is helping lead the way with easy to build AI Workflow apps that can be deployed in weeks. Cloud replaced On-prem. SaaS replaced traditional software. AI is rapidly replacing SaaS. Buckle up.

Bitcoin Miners⛏️ Yesterday by Curtailing BTC Miners were able to keep energy prices below $100MW for every consumer on the grid in Texas ERCOT.Last year at the same time of extreme heat the prices had reached $5000/MW yikes 😅. This is to show you how BTC mining makes energy cheaper for every consumer also when there is stranded energy we make a market for otherwise energy that utilities would have to curtail or be sold at negative prices. One interesting fact to know is that Texas Ercot being a deregulated energy market is also the largest wind renewable energy producer in the USA to the tune of 33GW per year.
