3D printing is having a breakout moment, turning its long held promise into a reality that is arriving at pace and at scale. A SAFE and convertible note had a baby and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati was the midwife- out popped the D-SAFE! 👶🏽🎉 A new #climatetech funding instrument was announced by Elemental Excelerator last week. One of the company’s main goals is to support smaller, up and coming companies during the awkward “Scale Gap” phase between #VC funding and natural growth. It’s called the #DSAFE (Development Simple Agreement for Future Equity) and it aims to aid the process by giving companies a small amount of cash to overcome initial risks and expenses during the developmental stages of a product launch or company. How does it work? D-SAFE has a redemption clause meaning companies can choose to have their payments offered as a loan or convert to equity at the investor’s discretion. Funders and companies will have clear communication and expectations about where the money is going and how it will be applied to either the company or the projects at hand. Financiers and companies will work together with more #transparency, and that’s a great boon for #startups and VC alike. As of this month, Elemental has already invested using D-SAFE in eight different companies, including Dimensional Energy and Origen — both companies investing in innovative and out-of-the-box solutions to environmental issues! This Roman / 99PI podcast episode is absolute perfection. It takes something slightly weird, explains it, debunks some stuff, and then proceeds to show how Prop 65 actually DID make a bunch of stuff statistically significantly safer. https://lnkd.in/g8iK-tGB The underbelly of this episode, though, is really hard to listen to. There's so much crap going on because people either don't fundamentally care about each other, themselves, or the environment, or don't have the capacity to understand. I get it! Why would you understand any of this stuff! You don't care about weird chemicals, you just want your life to continue as it has, Isn't it, like, the goverment's job to look after you, or something? Do you want a really simple example? There is no safe level of lead in drinking water, but there are still between 6 and 8 million miles of lead pipes in daily use for drinking water today. We removed lead from fuels because no exposure is safe, but people are drinking this stuff. In the wealthiest country in the world. There are dozens of other examples, but lead in drinking water is such an obvious one: It's non-partisan. Everyone agrees. Until there's a dollar amount attached. And then another round of 'okay, but, what if' starts. This is why the current election feels like such a waste to me. Yes, I already voted, and I knew who I would vote for all along. Never a doubt in my mind. But not because this person can massively make the US better and right the ship for generations to come. Just because the other option is so, _so_ much worse. And still. It's a good idea to vote. Please vote.
