“Das and I had the opportunity to work together on several ground-breaking projects for OSIsoft, including designing our first strategic 1300-person kickoff meeting, launching a company-wide communications initiative, and piloting an Ambassador Program where we empowered employees to be change agents. Das will do whatever it takes to make a project successful, will always put the team first, and will think about both the strategy-oriented big picture and execution-oriented details. It can be said that Das is creative, accountable, and productive, but what is really exceptional is that I myself became more creative, accountable, and productive when I was on Das's team. Whether we were discussing the latest HBR article, divvying up tasks as we approached a deadline, or talking about how to make our workplace more inclusive, I noticed that I and most other people bring out their best selves around Das. Any organization looking for a versatile, results-oriented strategic thinker who brings inspiration and energy to work every day would be lucky to have Das as a team member. ”

Your content strategy faces a seismic shift in SEO trends. How will you navigate this changing landscape?
Understand that AI is changing SEO. You can use it in the short-term to generate content for the long tail of terms you want to own. But for a longer term strategy, you need to focus on becoming a trusted source of information in your area of expertise. Make content a practice. Find your experts who like to write, present, or give interviews and make content creation a KPI. For other experts, consider ghostwriters. In a 30 minute weekly call with a valuable expert, a good ghostwriter can start to give you a valuable set of content to build audience trust.

You've received user feedback requiring major content changes. How do you ensure your revisions hit the mark?
Two common failure modes: 1) over reacting to a single piece of feedback 2) dismissing valuable feedback and getting defensive. The best way to avoid these: 1) Be curious and ask questions. Avoid explaining what you intended to do, and spend the entire interaction understanding what your content is actually communicating to your audience. What was valuable? What was confusing? What questions do they still have, or most want to know? What other sources of information are they turning to? 2) Look at your analytics as well. Do they tell the same story as the anecdotal user feedback you are getting? If so, great, time to make some changes. If not, you need more audience research to avoid over rotating on a single piece of feedback.

You're struggling with confidence as a content developer. How can you regain your professional edge?
Reflecting on the past can help, but there is no substitute for getting fingers on the keyboard daily and building a creative practice. In my experience when confidence takes a hit, the creative aspect of the content has taken a backseat to business goals. You need both for a content edge.

With four other expats, I founded a community wellness SPACE for expats to come together. The SPACE offered yoga classes, wellness workshops, art & performance, and pop-up events. We ran a full calendar of events for over two years and engaged a community and mailing list of approximately 800 people. Eventually, the project ended when the founders left South Korea. While the website no longer exists, the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/spaceoasis) reflects the work and scope of the community…
