BuildHealth (http://buildhealth.org/) explores the potential of community-driven research and development in the service of improving community health. The emphasis is on the methods of collaboration, emergent design and concept harvest. The goal was to develop an actionable response to one of three challenges posed at the event.

Our team proposed a personal health dashboard, putting high-time-resolution fitness and bio-metric data in the hands of individuals, empowering people with their own directly-observed medical information, which they can share with their doctor or other health care professionals.

It was 28 hours of intense brainstorming, great conversation and networking, revising of plans, and finally pitching our ideas to a panel of judges in the health care industry.

  • Innovative Solution Award

    Meridian Resource Company

Received the Innovative Solution Award from Meridian in October, 2000 for doubling the speed of data entry in an entire department of 20+ people with only 2 hours of work. After watching Subrogation staff enter the same series of keystrokes and explanatory text into their custom software system, I found, installed, and configured a keyboard/mouse macro application on each computer and taught the staff how to use it.

  • Employee of the Month

    ProStaff Employment Services

For "outstanding achievements and growth in my position", largely for designing and building a software system in three months that automated the collections department's activities, saving Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Wisconsin--according to Penny Siewert, President at the time--about $1.1 million annually.
