📝 Here is a Tiny Tableau Tip for Tuesday regarding workflow.   📃 If you are going to make a verbose entry in a tooltip with lots of editing, do it in a word processor and then paste it to your tip.   ❓ Why?   ⚠ If you accidentally hit Esc or the close X while editing a tooltip, Tableau simply discards all your changes.   😲 No prompt. Great to see Qlik investing in GenAI. Self-serve data/analytics/bi has been the narrative for a while now, but skillset hurdles still exist. LLMs on top of data feels like the natural lowering of the bar. Combine increased speed and quality of output, alongside improved data literacy, and this could really be something. I just had to stop and take a photo of this billboard for Clay in SFO. For 2 reasons... --- 1. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 "𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿" There are so many data enrichment tools out there. ZoomInfo, Apollo, Lusha to name just a few. Clay isn't the biggest. They haven't raised the most. They haven't been around the longest. Trying to convince buyers that you're better than incumbents rarely works. So instead, Clay highlights something it has that competitors don't have. Flexibility. Clay gives you the ability to shape, mold, and twist data sets so you get exactly what you need. You can even create a table in Clay and share it with others. It's almost fun to use. You may not know everything about Clay, but now you know it's different. Brilliant. --- 2. 𝗜𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 Ads that try to tell you everything often don't land. It's too much for the brain to process. Especially when you are focused on getting to your gate. In this ad, there are only 5 words. Just enough to plant the idea of "flexibility" in your brain. AI is great and Tableau Pulse will help answer lots of questions. But it doesn’t solve the fundamental problems of user engagement and a proper data platform. AI is the same as any other tool...garbage in, garbage out. But when you get that right, Pulse will be a game changer. TIP: Pulse helps you know which metrics are most important to your business because people subscribe to them.

Ok fine, you all convinced me to go with icons over text... 🖼️ Today, I scripted one more fix to make it work for me ⬇️ Data parameters have an unhelpful hexagon preview, where I would greatly prefer to have the data labeled. Especially since I've used these to label input and output from my scripting groups. I created this short python script to override the preview of all of the data parameters in the document! Now my legacy code is readable. These days, I use Telepathy which has the default text preview. So this fix is only to fix my old scripts 📜 Surprisingly I didn't see this function in the MetaHopper components where I would have expected to find it.
